4 pts off fourth..

I've said since the start of the season that we'd finish 5th, I still think we will.
Had you asked me a few weeks back I'd certainly snapped your arm right off for 5th.

However, I'd feel slightly disappointed if that was the case now despite me knowing we could still end up 8th.

We have played some good games this Season and still lost and to be honest, winning a game the way we did last night was so NOT Liverpool over the past years.

That game had a dire loss written all over it in the 2nd half and even more so with those subs in mind, and yet we started to play brightly and deservedly out of nowhere turned the game around.

A win like that can boost confidence no end especially as Suarez didn't even play. Personally I believe 4th should be our goal now, we are in a decent position and could be sitting even firmer a few weeks down the road.

I understand why you're saying but you have to bare in mind that Arsenal and Spurs will become stronger as the season goes on, Everton will stay strong as well, although I expect them to fall away a bit come the final quarter. We'll get stronger in January, however I don't think it'll be enough to get the top four, unfortunately.

I don't think they will. Like some arsenal fans have said, they were just as bad last season except they had RVP's goals to cover the cracks. He's gone and podolski and giroud look like they'll need a full season to bed in. Spurs are hit and miss. There's no guarantees that will change with AVB in charge. 4th is definitely a possibility ONLY if we buy a couple of quality forwards in january.

A few weeks ago i would have settled for getting a europa cup place, but not anymore. We've a good run of games coming up, and the harder ones come after january when hopefully we'd have already got our new striker.

At this stage last season we had twenty nine points and were in sixth place, five points of forth.

And we threw it away. but that was last season and no longer relevant. Not denying its going to be very difficult, but we are still in with a chance. Its in our own hands and thats all we can ask for.

And have the same number of points as we had under Hodgson the season before.
History at least suggests that we will be fortunate to qualify for the Europa League.
As much as I hope I am wrong I am not particularly optimistic of finishing in the top six.

I think we're more likely on an upward trend rather than a downward trend. Probably not as "upward" as we'd like, but I think we'll comfortably get in the top 6, and if things really go our way we have a chance at top 4.

If we were still under Hodgson i would say that we're being optimistic to be in the top half of the table. But we actually try to win games now, and this team is nothing like how it was under Uncle Woy. History is exactly that, the past. We're under different management so how we did in the past gets thrown out the window, we just don't know until the end of the season on whether that will be a good or bad thing.

Also we are very fortunate that the teams above us are just as inconsistent as us which gives us our chance of champions league.

We also picked up 18 points from january to the end of the season, and were in relegation form.
I've no doubt that if we continue to play like we're doing now, then we'll finish with more points (52) and higher than last season.
