---------------------Reina-----------------
Johnson-Carragher-Agger-Enrique
Downing--Gerrard-Lucas-Coutinho
--------------------Suarez-----------------
-------------------Sturridge---------------

That's how we played today and we were awesome, Suarez played the number 10 role fantastically, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge combined superbly, we just looked brilliant. More of it please.

Thing is, we weren't that far off against WBA either.
The result might have been very different had it not been for the first goal today.
We just have to get clinical in front of goal when we create so much early on in a match.

We also played an under strength Swans who had one on the cup final and we had come off 2 defeats.

Be interesting if BR sticks to this formation, would prefer hendo ahead of lucas.

Johnson, Enrique, Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge were brilliant today, and if those are on form, they'd batter any team in the league, not just swansea. But getting them all playing that well at the same time again will be difficult.

I think the key to today's success if the 'kevin keegan ethos' - all out attack and keep the ball as far away from the centre backs and keeper as possible.

Suarez looks absolutely terrifying in a number 10 role. It's great that in Sturridge we finally have a player who enabled Suarez to move deeper and made him even more dangerous. I think we have makings of a nice spine here: Sturridge-Suarez-Gerrard&Lucas. Now the defense (and possibly goalkeeping) needs to be sorted out before next season.

I think it was more of a 4-2-3-1, because Downing and Coutinho were very attack-minded. Doesn't matter, it's essentially the same system.

you have to goive praise to the gaffer for keeping their spirits up and still play the right way after two shocking games

But.... we were up against a shite team

Glad we've moved away from 4-3-3.

We're so unsuited to it. It's taken Rodgers far too long to change it, IMO.

I think we switched to "2" in the middle in the Norwich game. It worked great, obviously, but Rodgers still chose to go back to 4-3-3 for the Arsenal game which led to the infamous Suarez-at-left-back performance. We were back to 4-2-3-1 for Man City, which, again, worked really well. It's interesting that against West Brom Rodgers chose to stick with 4-2-3-1 despite missing Sturridge. It looks like he finally accepted the fact that this system suits the current squad best and that's going to be the default system for the rest of the season now.

I think now all the positions in the first team are pretty much set, the only competition is between Henderson, Coutinho (and Sterling as a 3rd option) for the LM spot. Henderson is a more defensive option, so Rodgers can choose one over the other depending on the opponent. Borini and Allen were both brought with 4-3-3 in mind; now one is done for the season and the other is in the biggest rut of his career. Shelvey is in the doghouse, Suso doesn't get near the team. I predict there will be no more "midfield triangle," whether upright or inverted, this season.
