We've lost well less games than anyone bar Citeh in the top 6... but the shite we've dropped points to.

West Brom - TWICE. The Ev - Twice. Stoke, Southampton, Newcastle, etc SHITE

Sorry I'm just looking at the league table and we should have had second easy. Feel free to tell me to shut up coz we're in the CL final, I just wanted to moan.

We beat So'ton 3-0 home, 2-0 away. But yeah, is a bit shitty all that.

I'm possibly being far too optimistic, but the way I see it, we have a very, very thin squad (like seriously thin, imo we have just 14 properly first team quality players & at least 2 of them have only been proven during this season).

Klopp heavily rotated, esp the forwards for a good couple of months & it cost us some points (Everton being the one everyone remembers) but the end result is what matters imo.

However he's also stated repeatedly that he wants Anfield to be a fortress. Whilst a succession of draws isn't great, we are quite literally the only English league team to be unbeaten at home. That's 92 league sides. When a side comes to Anfield they know the best they can hope for is a point. That's it. And that's what most come for now.

I personally think we could have pushed harder & gotten three points from some teams, including Everton, but at this moment in time we are unbeaten at home, in the CL spots & in the CL final.

So it's hard to argue with.

Ideal world I'd have liked us to have had an am or forward lined up to replace Coutinho, but Klopp's stubborn nature in waiting for the ideal player has done nothing but good so far, & only the next three games will tell us if his continual gambling on red will pay off.

At some point it won't, obv, but I hope when it fails we're in a stronger position than we are now, cos currently we're at a very important crossroads in our future.

We essentially need a completely extra team to have a chance of winning the league.

We have fuck all depth talking standard injuries into account

No, we don't pat.

We need more strength in depth, agree completely. But if we get another forward/am who doesn't make the loss of Mane/Salah/Firmino tragic, a CM who can adequately full in for Hendo Can etc, & a CB who can do more than just be Klavan, & we get a slice of luck, then we can challenge.

The problem we have is the WC. Following the WC, if my memory serves, the teams with the deepest squads tend to prevail. That is not us. At all.

Imo we'll win fuck all next year but come second or third, 19/20 we'll bring our bread & butter back home.

Back to back CL.

The problem is you can't rely on your first 11/12 to perform most weeks. They need rests and off days. If 3/4 of our boys have an off day we are goosed.

City literally have a second 11 capable of beating 75% of teams in the league.

Agree a couple and we might challenge for a while but theirs a world of difference to challenging and actually winning it.

I can't see us doing poorly in the CL either so we will always have that to content with unless we draw a big club early in the knockout stages and get unlucky

That's half the problem.

City don't have a second eleven capable of beating half the teams in the league.

Look at it this way, despite our unbeaten record, clubs come to Anfield & think if they can keep us at bay for half an hour then they can come away with a point at least.

Clubs go to the Etihad trying to keep the damage to a minimum.

Yet their first team isn't as effective as ours. We can cause more damage, score more goals & decimate confidences more quickly.

Next season teams will be coming to Anfield with that same mindset, I'm sure of it. Klopp has risked our best players simply to ensure our home record stays as it is. That cos teams coming to us will have a target. Either get a point, or don't concede too many. That's it. Teams will not be coming to Anfield trying to get three points, perhaps maybe two or three of the challengers, everyone else will be in damage limitation mode & as such we will obliterate them.

Klopp will almost certainly play weakened sides in the fa & league cups. Its a win win for him. Either our reserve players get a boost & some confidence or our thinner squad has less games to play.

There's no way we compete like for like with city, but neither do we with Utd or Chelsea, they all have bigger squads & bigger budgets to fund them.

It doesn't mean we can't beat them, it just means we'll struggle to do so over a full season because that's where squad depth counts.

The big curve ball is the fact it's a world cup year. Traditionally that helps the teams with bigger squads, but our rivals squads all feature players who will play in the WC also. As such any reserve of younger players we can bring through may actually make a big difference this season.

By the 5th of Feb we had already surrended 12 points from winning positions this season. I haven't got more recent stats but that's a clear problem and highlights what already know; that were very good at getting ahead and scoring in general, but we cannot control a game at all. If we had Klopp managing the first half of each game and Benitez the second then we would be competing for the title. On a more realistic note we have to hope a deep lying midfielder can provide the answer next year.

The problem with this heavy metal football is it doesn't have an off switch.

The bug difference there. VVD. Took him a few weeks, but he had our defence well & truly drilled.

I honestly believe if you take him out we lose 30% efficiency. But his influence remains.

He has a calmness, a. Directness, that as much as it pains me, reminds me. Of RIO at Utd. They know what to do & when now. He isn't there. Nor as good at it, but they know.

I thought he was top notch when klopp got him, but I underestimated just how damn good he was.

I honestly think 75m is a bargain. Similarly to rio being a bargain when. Utd paid 'over the odds' for him.

We all know Klopp won't go for a DM per se. However some here seem to see Keita as purely an attacking midfielder whereas his defensive stats are at least as impressive, if not more. If he is allied to say a Neves or Jorginho and one from Milner / Hendo / Gini then that is a superb midfield for both attack and defence and gives us at the very least 5 quality midfielders (with good back up in Grujic and maybe one of the other youngsters if needed to be called upon).

I was very suspicious of the price but am now inclined to agree.

Fucking off Lovren would be a good start.

Depth is the issue. Losing Can and Oxlade-Chamberlain at this stage has been a big blow for us. Like most seasons we need to keep our main players whilst adding the right players. Keita is a big step in the right direction. Better partner for VVD and another forward should turn half those draws into victories.

It shouldn't be forgotten that our squad should also include Wilson, Jones, Kane, Woodburn and Brewster next season - all really good young players who should actually get game time, so in effect we'll already have added to our options before making any new signings. Then there's Allan - presumably he'll finally be able to join us. So hopefully that should allow us to really concentrate on a few top quality additions.

I don't know about Allan.

First off, he's a Brazilian defensive midfielder. If that doesn't set off alarm bells I don't know what should. Secondly, he's a Brazilian who goes by the name Allan. Fucking Allan! He's Called Allan Rodrigues de Souza. So go for De Souza! Go for Rodrigues! Don't go for fucking Allan! That put me right off him. Thirdly, he's currently on loan in the Cypriot league, where he has only made 15 appearances for Appolon Limassol. Last year he made exactly the same amount of appearances for Hertha Berlin when on loan. I'm not saying he's a write-off, but it isn't looking exceptionally promising.

The kids are below Ings and dom in the pecking order order. Im surprised woodburn has not been given more of a run out, as he scored for wales in an international.

He’s been injured and ill. Lost weight and needed time to get back to full fitness I think.

I'm wrong about him anyway - apparently we'll have to loan him out AGAIN next season because he still isn't eligible to play here. Now I'm all in favour of snapping up young prospects if they're deemed really good enough, but this is getting ridiculous!

Chelsea make a living out of these sorts of deals.
