The technique to strike a ball so hard, so low and so accuratly placed is just insane. To be able to achieve that technique in the 90th minute in a cup final is one of the qualities which elevated him to among the best players in the world, and the best player I've ever seen in a red shirt.

I hope Klopp allows him to join his coaching set up in the near future, but I have my doubts it will happen.

Not to mention he was fucking spent by then.

Oh don't start with the Gerrard videos and sob stories again.

We must look forward!

(I miss him so much I might cry)

An all or nothing attempt there by Stevie. I remember it like yesterday.
Left my friends "sucky" wedding early to watch the game at my brothers house.

Funnily enough Kromkamp did all right that day. Quite a number of our lot weren't at the races, but Kromkamp stood his ground reasonably well when he came on. Momo - who was utterly magnificent all afternoon and kept us in it when even Stevie G was wilting - finally had some help out on the right.

Nobody is as bad as Josemi. Ever. In the history of football.

@LeTallecWiz

You had this post on Van Basten goal in the Euro finals which went along the lines of "perfect talent, perfect technique, on the perfect occasion". When I was reading that this goal came to my mind. Of course Van Basten's goal is more important but when you think of "technique, execution, talent and the stage combination", this is the best I have seen live.

Edit: This was the line I was referring to "The perfect talent had met the perfect stage and produced the perfect moment." If someone had shown me that line and asked me which goal was the writer describing - my answer would have been the FA cup final goal.

What strike, can watch that all day.

mauricio pellegrino. Some awful performances in his short time.

His display against the Southampton gave rafa the idea to sign crouch

It says how long I've been talking to some of you that I remember Brendan's early anti-Josemi posts quite clearly.

For some reason I turned on my tv tonight and immediately it started showing the celebrations from Upton Park. I'm assuming when I came home drunk last night I decided to revel in United misery for a second time.

While watching it, I started to wonder what our celebrations would be like should we ever leave Anfield. I now sit here very smug knowing this would've be a highlight of the night in the celebrations, whereas it's a drop in the ocean for us, and only fired me more up for Wednesday.

But then again, I also stopped in at the pub again on the way home...

I think there was a game early on where some aged Nordic plodder with Bolton knocked the ball past josemi and slowly sped past him.

Good grief yes, Henrik Pedersen. I could be wrong but I don't think that game came particularly early in Josemi's LFC career. As I recall it he had actually looked OK to begin with - his distribution was decent and he certainly liked a tackle. The full horror of what we'd bought took a while to emerge.

Think that was also Xabi's debut. Who was brilliant that day.

I hope we see the likes of that lad again in my lifetime. Sounds dramatic, but is it really?
Never knew when he was has beat that boy. I remember being overjoyed at Owen at coming through the ranks, clearly he was World Class, but I read a Youth Team report where Michael was basically saying 'If you think I'm good, wait till you see Steven Gerrard":
I never thought anyone would be placed above the King but maybe Stevie was.
I'd sign him back and play the cunt till he was 60 personally.

I hadn't seen that goal in quite some time. Wow. What a fucking hit. Unreal. Amazing goal at any time but to do it at that time in a cup final? Unfucking believable. How blessed were we to see Gerrard deliver goals like that and Olympians and Istanbul over and over and over again.
