Hansern

Thinks he owns the place

So, it looks like Arbeloa and Dossena will leave next week. Arby for 4,5 mill £ to Real and Dossy for 5-6 mill £ to Napoli.

What do you think Rafa will use that money on?

If Xabi stays;
I hope he spends it on a back up striker for Torres. Preferbly someone with pace. I actually wouldnt mind Darren Bent. That would also mean that the Crow can fly the nest, which would be a huge bonus.
Negredo would be excellent aswell, he can also play on the wing if needed.

I agree the money should be spent on a striker preferable a player that can play in the Gerrard role as well, in case he gets injured.
We've got Riera, Babel, Kuyt and Benayoun playing on the wings. I think that area is sorted. Hopefully Babel will do well this season.

Re: 10 mill £

Haven't seen anything of Negredo and Bent will more than likely go for over £10m.

I'd like an experienced versatile defender who can cover full back positions. That's probably where the money will go on.

If there was cash left over, I wouldn't mind taking a punt on Bentley for £7-8M, if that is indeed his asking price.

Negredo ? I suspect that if we are not playing ball with Madrid over Alonso then they'd rather keep Negredo in their B side rather than sell to us.

If we got an extra 10mln ? I would still prefer a Silva/Young type player who will play more games than a back up striker.

If we got more quality in the wide area, that extra bit of creativity then we might be able to survive that bit better with Kuyt upfront ?

Anyway, in my mind its a one-or-the-other, cant see us getting players for both positions Hansern.

I think Rafa needs to use the 'tools' at his disposal in Babel and Voronin, they are not going anywhere so they are his front men options with Kuyt and Ngog aswell as the options for Torres's back up.

Though in saying that, he may think he has enough in Kuyt, Benayoun, Riera and Babel for the wide areas.

Lunatic Cassano has had a good couple seasons at Sampdoria. The only issue is that he'd be super expensive, incompatible with Rafa most likely and that he's a lunatic. So probably not the best idea.

Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain insists there are no shortage of clubs wanting to take new signing Keirrison on loan for next season.

Keirrison passed his medical with Barca on Friday before putting pen to paper on his five-year contract with the European champions, who have agreed to pay Palmeiras an initial 14million euros for the 20-year-old striker.

Barca have already decided to send the Brazilian out on loan, much like they did 12 months ago with Henrique, who joined in a 10million euro deal from Palmeiras before spending last season with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

And Begiristain is confident they will have no trouble finding a European club for their new signing, telling Barca TV: "There are many clubs interested, now we want to get it right so that he can develop as a player and be able to return to Barca.

"He is a player for the future, a similar case to that of Henrique.

"It's difficult to find goalscorers and he is a 20-year-old lad who has scored a lot of goals since he became a professional, both at Coritiba and Palmeiras."

can't believe we'll only end up with 4 or 5 million for arbeloa.

just wish we could add the sale of voronin and even babel to the 10 million and make it 20.

if silva worked out he'd be worth the 20 million easily and we wouldn't miss voronin, babel and doseena.

just wish it was degen we were selling instead of arbeloa.

He's in the last year of his contract and doesn't seem in any hurry to sign a new one. Another that Rafa has plucked from mediocrity who will return to Spain back to the same.
Sham, I think his attitude has been great this season. Maybe Carra scared him off?

I don't know why people are expecting Rafa to conjure 3 players into one mega player, leaving two spaces in the squad.

Apperantly Milan are interested in Dossena aswell. And Roma want Voronin. Which means Rafa has to purchase a striker. I wouldnt mind RVN as a back up either actually. We could need someone that has experience and can keep a cool head when we're chasing a goal etc.

The Aqualini link sounds more like Roma trying to drum up interest in a player they want to sell to raise funds than any genuine interest from us.

I'd just tell Arbeloa he's staying and he can get his move on a bosman next summer, or even sign a new deal. His versatility could be an asset this season with Johnson bedding in and Dossena on his way out.
