The Hodgson Out Thread

Yes, may sound silly and irrational, but I have to make a statement. Who here will join me?

Nice man, but we can and must do better. He won't retain the talent, he's not better than Rafa, he won't get us into the CL, and he won't attract new talent. On what level is this a good appointment when people like Pellegrini, and Kenny (who both would be much more inspiring signings) are thought to be available.

We're heading for Newcastle status, and anyone who says "get behind the club" better remember the Evans and Houllier years. THIS IS going to be worse. Back to being ALSO RANS? At least under Rafa, you didn't feel like you were fooling yourself by believing we could win things and beat the elite of Europe and the PL. Under Hodgson, we're back to being a laughing stock.

Fergie must be tickled at this one.

Yes, I can really see the cream of Europe, inspired to come and play for us now.

It's a joke.

Yep, I'm convinced he'll be coming to the one of the biggest clubs in the world to oversee its downfall.

Fuck off!

Im going to afford Hodgson the same respect I would of any manager coming in and thats getting behind him 100%.

So in a politically correct attempt to attack the post and not the poster! Your post can go fuck itself!

Shit. Thread.

I can fix that for you though...

We don't have the money for any inspiring signings so it doesn't matter who the manager is.
Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano will probably leave anyway so it doesn't matter who the new manager is.

So what we need is a tactically sound manager who can bring the best out of players (see-Duff, Zamora, Dempsey etc) and spot a good player at a fair price (see-Hangaland, Dempsey, Schwarzer)
I think your expectations of the club need to be lowered, not your expectation of the new manager.

Thanks Whitey, I thought Kenny or Pellegrini would be much more inspiring signings, and would be more likely to hold onto talent and attract some new players, especially foreign talent.

Couldn't disagree more really.

We are still one of the biggest clubs and brands in the world of football and although we may have lost the battle the war is still ours to win.

New owners coming in with their new manager and new apporach - and a whole heap of money - would reignite belief in and around the club and we'd be right upthere once again where we belong.

Personally I can't see Hodgson beeing the right man at all. We are NOT Fulham-likel.

Mate, have your fun, but this is the fifth time I've created a thread in about a year, I don't post lightly. love this site. But Jesus, come on - we are a major brand in world football, with lots going for us, and we're signing a mid table manager. Another nice guy, who we'll hold onto longer than we should. Would you see UTD, chelsea, Arsenal quaking in their boots after this? Would you see them appoint a manager like this. There's your answer. Pellegrini, Kenny, much better options.

The European Champions just appointed a mid table manager.

So did AC Milan and Juve.
your expectations aren't grounded in reality mate. Pellegrino would have to work under the same constraints as Roy. With that in mind would you rather have a coach who knows the league and the players and is a proven premiership manager or a manager who is a name but inexperienced here? Come on. If we had millions to spend then fine, get a top euromanager, but we need to be realistic. If Roy allows us to draw breath and hold our own with whatever personel we have he will have done his job. He works on a one year rolling contract so it's not a financially constraining appointment, it's a sensible one. Give him a chance.

Spurs appointed a manager who would have got relegated with Porrtsmouth. Result: CL Place

As did Fulham: Europa Cup Final two seasons later.

I know lads, but is this where it's at - we're consoling ourselves by comparing to teams that make Europa league finals, and Spurs and *ortsmouth?. Enough, i've said my piece. No offence meant, I just think this is going to get ugly very quickly.
if as expected two or three of our world class players leave NO ONE would get us into the top 4, not Jose or the ghost of sir Bob! That's what I'm talking about. Roy will be taking over a top 10 side why expect him to make top 4.

At this point, with the Abu Dhabi takeover being only a million phone texts, I would gladly take Hodgson.

As things stand, I think we would be lucky to get a manager as good as him.

I'm soooo glad we plucked Shanks from the reigning Champions all those years ago. Imagine if we'd lowered our standards and opted for..say....oh I don't know...Huddersfield's manager.

good point man, but with a different manager, you might get in decent replacements for the stars you lose. With a strong inspiring manager, you'd have players interested in joining us, knowing their careers might blossom. Under Roy, they'll just prefer to be in Manchester or London again...

Anyway, you could make fun of me this time next year hopefully. I just think we should do better. I was for Roy, Houllier, and Rafa from the start.
