Of the other 3 groups that played tonight the 3 teams finishing 2nd ie we could get drawn against in the Knockout stage are Valencia, Lyon and Dortmund.

I just watched Valencia, definitely nothing to overly concern us, they were quite poor but got the away win in Ajax that they needed.
Weren't Ajax missing Promes and another star whose name I can't remember ? Ajax fans seem to think that made a huge difference as their squad is actually quite weak aside from their usual starting XI.

Yeah they were poor last night. They actually dominated against Valencia but didn't make enough clear cut chances to equalise the early Valencia goal. As was pointed out by someone else, Valencia actually topped the group on goal difference ahead of Chelsea (my app had Chelsea top!) so every team finishing 2nd will want to get drawn against Valencia.

This actually increases our chances of getting a tougher draw in the next round (now that we can't play the 2nd placed team in that group.

Our potential opponents so far are Lyon or Dortmund and we can add Real Madrid as they are guaranteed 2nd already. We know Spurs will finish 2nd and we can't draw them. Atletico Madrid seem most likely to finish 2nd behind Juvé and then in City's group any of the other 3 teams can still get 2nd (Shaktar, Zagreb, Atalanta).

So there's a 40% chance we will get one of the Madrid clubs in the first knock out stage..........

Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid (unless they fuck up at home to Lokomotiv tonight and Leverkuesen beat Juvé)
Lyon
Dortmund
Shaktar or Zagreb or Atalanta.

The good thing is we know........the one team no team wants to draw is Liverpool!

Hahahaha. Not that you'd know it from the subtitles (!) but Klopp says at the beginning that the way he'd behaved had been "absolutely sh!t". Small wonder there was no translation. :D

You'd walk through a brick wall for the guy. And if you're Virgil you could literally do that.

He snapped at the translator the day before for doing a bad job. It wasn't cool, but this most certainly was.

What's he apologising for ?
The translator the day before said when interpreting for Hendo something like ‘we’ll take it easy in this game’ while Hendo was in fact saying the game wouldn’t be easy.
It was pretty shit of Klopp snap the way he did, but the way he took care of that in the interview above is exactly what makes him the best manager we could have. He’s a PR king.

It must be a bit annoying when Klopp can do a better job of translating than a person whose job is translating.

Love "Highway To Hell" blaring out in the pregame warm-ups, as if a trip to a town that appears to have been built purely for Christmas postcards is intimidating, like the back streets of Istanbul or something... :D

The reserves were in the stands. Here they are celebrating Keita's goal.
That's probably the lads who will play against Villa.

It is not the first time, remember that near end of season game against West Brom - where they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 and they were getting relegated - Klopp was like "what have they got to play for - what is the point in fighting for a draw for them etc...". We needed to secure 4th place or something for a CL place so there was some pressure on us. But anyway a few days later he admitted that he was talking ballshit after that game - an admission of how wrong it was for him to say that.

Klopp gives a shit about us and our standing is obviously emotional/pissed off when we fall below standard.
Isn`t this why we love him and have extended his contract?

Indeed - that is why we like him, and that is why of all the current top coaches in European football I think he has been tested by fate more than anyone else.

  • The struggles in Germany where he builds up a great side only for Bayern to rip it apart and he can do nothing to stop it.
  • Personally I think when he has "his" team - he can get them to win and do anything BUT then the challenge comes from Pep to put a stop to it.
  • The stats showing how in his final season doing so bad with Dortmund - yet our analytics show it was just pure pure bad luck !!!
  • The resolve to keep on having to try and get that cup final win despite so many finals defeats - many men would be broken by the number of defeats he has had to take, and in each case especially our ones - it was bad luck bad luck and bad luck.

It just shows Klopp’s humility to admit when he makes a mistake. It’s probably why after countless times of failures, he improves on them and level up. Shows what a big and magnanimous heart he has too.

I gave you a like for inventing "ballshit" ... Is that the term for when you make a bad job of wiping?
