"Klopp has a slight shortage of attacking options, a situation that will be exacerbated as the AFCON rolls around and that could give [Neco] Williams a chance in a more advanced role.

"Liverpool could well discover their very own Gareth Bale in the process."

liverpool will be the death of me. can't wait for neco williams to cover mohamed salah and score 5 goals in a month....

The only way he could turn into Bale is if he gets really into golf.

It like saying we discovered the next Ronaldo with Allisson because he scored with his head..

If we had a good understudy RB we should be playing Trent at wide forward, rather than Neco.

If we weren't so desperately short in midfield, the short term answer against a few lesser teams could be Milner at right back and Trent further up the pitch.

I'm not against it personally if we need to rest Salah. I would be playing him on the RW against Porto

Similarly, I wouldn't be against Robbo at left back and the Greek lad on the wing, he's got alot of quality going forward and is more skillful than Robbo.

I guess the problem is we need goals, and only really Trent looks like an answer in that regard.

The whole idea of our wide forwards is that they're the goal threat - so a left footer plays right and a right footer plays on the left - they're forwards, not wingers. Playing Williams wide right in our system is all kinds of wrong.

This isn't Rafa's 4-4-1-1 where a full back can cover as a traditional winger.

Yeah there's alot of truth to this. We need to play at least Origi or Minamino, there's no bigger opportunity for them really, even though neither are really suited to playing outwide.

Wilson would have been a good option. TAA on the left could work wonders

Neco seems better further up the pitch than he is defending but let's be honest, experimenting with Neco in any kind of attacking position in a supposed title challenging season is all kinds of wrong irrespective of tactics, systems and anything else.

Conor Bradley seems to be progressing quite well. It does look like Neco Williams may have to make a switch in position if he is to have any future here.

I agree however.. the same could have been said about Harvey Elliot replacing Wijnaldum in midfield.. He bossed it, like he had been in the team for years.. got incredibly unlucky with the Injury

Some could even argue playing TAA at Right Back back in the day when he came to the fold..  Given we where challenging for Top 4..

Not really because Elliot was already a midfielder (and did a whole season there with Blackburn) and Trent was already a right back.

Agreed. We tried square pegs in round holes last season and it fucked us. We just need to play a few games using Origi, Minamino more and tweaking formation/approach slightly. We have good attacking players already, let's use them

To be honest if I were Klopp I'd be training the team for a system change when we lose Mane and Salah to Afcon. Those are such specialist positions they play, and we rely on them so heavily (especially Mo) that it might be better to play something more standard for a few weeks.

Even an old fashioned 4-4-2 with inverted wide men. Elliott on the right, Jones on the left. Two of Jota, Origi or Firmino up front.

I think a 352 would be interesting. Robbo/Tsimikas & Trent as full backs, get Konate or Gomez into the back three. Origi & Jota up front. Fabs, Hendo, Thiago, Elliot etc. in the middle.

As I understand it Trent wasn't a RB when he initially got into the first team.  He'd mostly played MF in the youth teams up till then.  Agree about Elliott though.
