League won.

Anyone gone on the Echo website this afternoon? There's a big ad running round the margins of the webpage celebrating Man City's title win.

Young players progressing and breaking into first team (Tick)
Exciting expansive football (Tick)
Top quality attackers (Tick)
Progression in the league (Tick - I think so, even if we finish 4th, it's been a tougher season in terms of competition for the top four)
Progression in Europe (Tick - a minimum of semi's in the CL at Klopp's first time of asking with us)
Resounding acclaim from pundits, the press, other mangers, other fans (Tick).

Can't argue with any of that, we're about as fresh and exciting as we've been since the 2nd season under Rodgers and about as recongnised on the biggest stage as we have been since Rafa. Klopp has built it all relatively quickly and not faltered after losing arguably his best player (something I didn't see us recovering from so well). He deserves all the credit he gets.

Did he liberate man from his alienation though? Did he fuck.

I think the overall quality of the league has been poor. Underneath all the hype there's basically been three or four teams with a progressive and entertaining style, and the order of them in the league has really hinged on how well they cope with the other teams trying to stifle them with anti-football, which has produced some of the most boringly painful and soul-sapping games I've seen in my lifetime. In place of genuinely unpredictable games of football there's largely been a prolonged training exercise masquerading as entertainment and sport. City have done best at that, while not actually being consistently stronger than their peers when they've played each other. The whole thing has been a huge turn-off for me. Aside from LFC I'd be perfectly happy never to watch a Premier League game again, I'm so sick of the whole thing.

I find that a very strange assessment @gkmacca . I think you will find there is hype in all leagues, I find it hard to even assess the quality of the Spanish/German leagues given the strengths of their respective leagues - I mean how often do you see in those leagues where teams like Barca / Bayern / Real get beaten by the bottom team in the league or get knocked out in a cup competition - you won't find those type of outcomes in those 2 teams for the league shit. This season has not been any different to other seasons other than the fact that for the first time we have had a season where potentially 6 teams were competing for a top 4 spot. I mean at the start of the season there was no soft candidate other than maybe Arsenal but they were still on the tails up to Christmas. If you recall our early struggles - nothing has been predictable other than the way certain teams have just given up completely before they face City.

Getting back to business - I really don't see what the fuss is about the City team - some may disagree but Arsenal under Wenger had a similar style to them - do any of your remember the first 20/25 minutes of the game we had against them in the CL at home ? - we could not even touch the fucking ball let alone try and defend that night. Luckily they could not sustain that pressure such was their speed and Man City have not matched that yet, but they have played consistently to a certain style.

Getting back to @Oncy ' s main point about his initial post:-

1) I think we are lucky in this league that we have these top foreign managers in this league - I mean we have at least 3 that have won the CL, and 2 others that have led teams to CL finals. I think what makes City dangerous is more so the appointment of Pep rather than the money why because quite simply they can spend big money on these players - but are they really the best on the market ? - I don't think so personally - you take away Sterling, Sane, De Bryne - they won't be able to attack in the same way. I think credit has to be given to their manager for creating and bedding those players into his way of playing, and to keep it consistent - so in many ways he is willing to get the talent and nurture it to his will of playing. Even if they spend I can only see them adding to the depth but not necessarily improving on what they have.

2) United - if you look past all the negativity of Jose, you can see what he was trying to do - which is build a bit of character into that team by making them defensively sound. But he ain't like Pep/Klopp/Arsene where he is willing to spend time on nurturing talent to give it a chance to develop into a playing style. He is like all the Chelsea managers of the past - get a certain type of playing and fit them into a system and EXPECT them to do the right job. Unfortunately for him - he has inherited a load of thick cunts that United have overpaid for. He does not have a defender who is as clever as Ricardo, midfielders as clever, as Lampard/Essien/ Claude and wingers as good as Rubben/Duff. That's why the fucker looks confused - and at the same time it ain't obvious if the type of player he wants will/can be found to meet his needs. I expect him to spend like crazy next season but still despite all this thick shit he has managed to get them to 2nd in the league around a good defensive strategy.

3) Arsenal/Chelsea - I think with Arsenal - they will stick with Wenger and give him the money to get more players - if he can get them to have a tougher center and add a reliable defender then I think they will do well next season - I can see them having a very good front three, they already have it but like us with Coutinho there is an imbalance in that team which is making them leak goals. Fuck knows with Chelsea - depends if the Russian wants to poison Conte and his squad with nerve gas.

4) Us - I think the priority will be to get another CB - not at the price of £75M but one who is either around the 28-30 year old mark with a reputation for calmness in the same way as VDD that can read the game well. Definitely need at least 2 more midfielders of a creative nature and a hard nature we already know one coming in but the two would be in addition to Keita. In terms of the front 3 - I don't think we need to spend a fortune - Klopp should go by his gut and get someone that will be a good backup to what we have and has played in the PL, plus maybe a youngster if he does not see Solanke as an answer. I think we should be realistic in that top quality players WILL NOT want to sit on a bench waiting for a chance. I think we will definitely challenge - next season if we don't get bogged down in believing that defeating United/City/Chelsea is the only way to win the title. Personally I think it's all about beating all teams from 3rd place downwards with a few draws that will win you the title at the cost of losing two/three games in a season to your rivals. Also lets not get all hung up if we lose our best players - trust in Klopp to make the right decisions and acquisitions.

My Very Best Wishes,

MORON

Mourinho has spent an equivalent fucking fortune, and didn't come close to winning the league or getting his team to play the exhilarating way Guardiola's side did.

It's ignorant to claim money alone bought the title. The construct of his side - Kompany, Fernandinho, Sterling, Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero, etc were all there when he arrived. He's simply improved them.

It's fashionable to mock them cos well they're very fucking mockable, and their recent min-implosion has taken a bit of gloss off their magnificent season, but they're still deserved champions.

Not discrediting him, but he arrived at a club in ascendancy. A club with new money, who had already bought their way to the league title. The players you mentioned were already world-class, he simply spent half million more on top of an already world class squad...

Morinho in contrast came to replace two failed attempts to rejuvenate an aging squad by Moyes and LVG...the situation is completely different.

depends on your definition of world class - mine is very high - it seems yours is very low.

Liverpool are due £1 million from Manchester City’s title win under the terms of Raheem Sterling’s move to City three years ago, according to @TimesSport

That makes me feel so much better about his betrayal - little fuck I hope VVD steps on him proper next season.

Yeah but I'm taller than you.
Does not matter .. dont give a shit.

They have one world class player...Aguero. The rest are good to very good. But its the manager that has got them to play that fluid passing game at pace. Previous Man City teams did not have the consistency or stamina to play like that for an entire season. So Pep deserves credit.

Moron its 2018 you mug, no ones reading all that shit unless its from Rurik or Binny or someone.
I dont even watch the videos people send me these days unless they are under 60 seconds.

Some of the hype in the media is over the top - as you might expect - but then so is some of the criticism and poo pooing on here.

He arrived at a mega-rich club that had spent lots of money and was prepared to spent a whole lot more to get what it wants but it wasn't like the situation he walked into at Bayern who had just won everything. The last time City won the title was like 4 years ago and the squad was under-performing both domestically and in Europe.

Yeah, Aguero, Fernandinho, Silva, Kompany were all there, struggling horribly until the magnificent Pep came to save them.
Although, in fairness to those players, they had actually already won the fucking title twice before Cuntiola arrived.

So what has actually happened at City, is that Cuntiola arrived at the richest club in the league, with the best players, who were already winning titles, and then spent HALF A BILLION POUNDS in just two seasons making them even better.
What a manager!

Look at how he reshaped that defence, amazing! Only Mighty Pep could have done that. A modest £300m spent on it, including £100m on fullbacks and the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, to replace the one he bought 12 months earlier.

And such bravery in his rotation of the squad, and use of subs! Against us at Anfield, he was clever and brave enough to have £200m worth of players on his subs bench.
What a genius!

The most expensive squad in the world and the team who spent the most money spent on players in summer wins the league.
What a triumph!

It's not "fashionable" to mock them. It's mandatory.
Fucking cunts who bought the title. Again. With a fucking cunt of a cheque-book manager who won the title with the best team and the most money. Again.

Yeah, let's not pretend that they hadn't already spent a fucking wad on that team before he arrived. Of course money bought the title.

Those players listed, who were already there, cost a combined £250m. That's before the net spend last Summer alone which was in the region of £280m, that's before we mention loads of other players like Jesus, Stones, Gundogan, Otamendi, Delph, Sane (who cost another combined £200m+).

Mourinho spent a fuck load, but was anyone expecting him to release this great attacking side on the Premiership? He's done in comparison to how efficient and effective he was several years ago and attacking wise it's been more of the same dull as shit, one dimensional football.
