Emiliano Sala

Just read and was going to post this myself.

Fears are growing that Cardiff's new Argentine striker Emiliano Sala was on board an aircraft which went missing near the Channel Islands on Monday evening.
Sky Sports News understands the club were expecting their new £18m signing to travel back to Cardiff on Monday night.
In the early hours of Tuesday, emergency services reported that a small plane travelling from Nantes in France to Cardiff had gone missing near the island of Alderney.
French news agency AFP is reporting it has been informed by police sources that the 28-year-old was on board.
Authorities say the Piper Malibu aircraft, which is believed to have had two people on board, disappeared from radar near the Casquets lighthouse at about 8:30pm on Monday.
A search and rescue operation is now underway.

Heavy salad. Maybe Clyne pulled out and went to Bournemouth because he knew that there was a hex on their new signings.

Emiliano Sala: Fears Cardiff FC player on missing plane

There is "genuine concern" Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala was on a light aircraft which disappeared between France and Cardiff.
It is feared the Argentine striker was one of two people on board the Piper Malibu, which went missing off Alderney in the Channel Islands on Monday night.
Cardiff City, which signed the 28-year-old from French club Nantes on Saturday, said it was "seeking clarification" as to what happened.

A search resumed at 08:00 GMT.
Guernsey police said "no trace" of the missing aircraft had been found.
It left Nantes at 19:15 and had been flying at 5,000ft when it contacted Jersey air traffic control requesting descent, the force said.
The plane lost contact while at 2,300ft.
Searches were suspended at 02:00 "due to strengthening winds, worsening sea conditions and reducing visibility", police added.
Cardiff Airport confirmed the aircraft was due to arrive from Nantes but a spokeswoman said there were no further details.
The Met Office said at the time the aircraft went missing "there were some showers around, but nothing too intense".
"Wind speeds were not too bad - average speeds were around 15 to 20mph," it added.
As the search continued into the evening though, it became wetter and windier.
Cardiff signed Sala for a club record £15m after protracted negotiations with Nantes.
He has been among the top scorers in France in recent years and had scored 13 league and cup goals this season, third behind Kylian Mbappe and Nicolas Pepe.
'Last goodbye'

When his signing to Cardiff was announced, he said: "It gives me great pleasure and I can't wait to start training, meet my new teammates and get down to work."
Club chief executive Ken Choo said: "I'm sure all Cardiff City fans will join me in that and we can look forward to seeing our record signing in a Bluebirds shirt."
The most recent tweet from Sala's account was a picture of him and his former team-mates, captioned "La ultima ciao", or "the last goodbye".

Sala began his playing career at Argentinian side Club Proyecto Crecer, before moving to French club Girondins Bordeaux in 2012.
The flight disappeared off radar near the Casquets lighthouse, infamous among mariners as the site of many shipwrecks, 13km north-west of Alderney.
HM Coastguard said the disappearance was not in the UK search and rescue area, but it had sent two helicopters to help.
A spokeswoman said they were assisting Guernsey Coastguard with a search for a light aircraft off Alderney.
"HM Coastguard helicopters from Solent and Newquay have been helping to search overnight with nothing found," she said.

Yeah French goals don't count after March 29th. They're stuck in a traffic jam in Calais
Exactly, we don't want my of those foreign goals. coming over here, bumping up player valuations

Why would he fly from Nantes to Cardiff in a light aircraft anyway? What's wrong with a jet?

Those things always look like they're powered with elastic bands and made out of balsa wood. It's the flying equivalent of sticking him on the back of a fucking moped.
It's like buying a £2000 stereo system online and choosing the economy delivery option.

It's probably the most Zen way to chop out, totally optimistic for the future, hitting your peak, financially secure forever, then pop. Massive disaster for those left behind. Including Cardiff FC.

Must be an insurance job.

I know the guy hasn't even been found yet, but do you think Cardiff will have to pay up his contract to his family? He's already their record signing but he might end up costing double.

Confirmed he was on the plane

Will this feature in Sky Sports end of season list of transfer flops?

Will you get docked points if you've already signed him for your Fantasy football team?

So are Cardiff on the hook for the transfer fee ?

Surely you can't spend bazillions of pounds without insuring in the event of random tragedy? Or there's some Cardiff admin with the insurance paperwork sitting on his desk, who said to himself yesterday, "I must remember to get that in the external mail tomorrow".

Dunno, has he actually signed anything yet? Do those photo opportunities so beloved of club social media accounts actually show the legal and binding signing of contracts?

There'll be insurance somewhere too, although I'm not sure "death in transit" is covered.

Warnock's probably chucked out all the fax machines and disabled wi-fi, as part of his purging of modern-day "witchcraft and unnatural practices"

God knows who's going to tell him about the whole "aeroplane" bit, but he'll doubtless see it as a sign from The Old Ones.
