The funny thing is, he can be a "Barcelona player" – if given enough patience and support, which seems to be in short supply, particularly among the fans. He was never a "Klopp player," but Klopp managed to integrate him into our system, because he had to. When a club has to deal with limited resources, they don't just throw out talents like that – look at Spurs, how Pochettino due to not being able to sign any players had to find a way to use a "flop" like Sissoko or an initially underwhelming signing like Lucas Moura – and did so. Look again at Klopp this season, how he managed to squeeze every bit of value from the fucking Origi and Sturridge.

If Barca fans were willing to be patient with Coutinho, give the coach some space to tweak the system to suit his strengths – they would be rewarded eventually. There is real talent there (same goes for Dembele, who they also want to get rid of, apparently). But they are a bunch of trigger-happy spoiled brats who love to put some players on a pedestal and viciously tear others down and that is going be their weakness and their downfall.

When your the 3rd most expensive signing ever, you aren’t afforded time

Barcelona must get rid of flop Philippe Coutinho to avoid paying Liverpool £17m windfall if Brazilian plays 100 games

Barcelona could save £17million if they sell Philippe Coutinho this summer.

The Catalan giants will have to pay Liverpool the sizeable fee if the Brazil international plays 100 games for the club as part of the transfer agreed with the Reds in January 2018.

Ernesto Valverde's side had to pay £106m up front to the Reds and then an extra £36m in add-ons according to the Guardian.

The variables include: £4.4m for qualification for the Champions League in his first year and another £4.4m for doing so in the second season, which has already been achieved.

Another £4.4m was paid after he played 25 games, but £17m will have to be paid if he plays 100 games.

Barcelona would also have to pay another £4.4m if Coutinho lifted the Champions League with the Catalan outfit.

Coutinho has currently played 74 matches for the club so they would not have to stump up the money if they move him on in the next transfer window.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder has been whistled regularly by his own supporters after inconsistent performances this season.

As a result, he has been linked with a move back to the Premier League and with Barcelona knowing they could save some money, they might be encouraged to find a buyer.

The La Liga side are reportedly looking to rebuild after suffering a humiliating Champions League semi-final defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday and could offload as many as 10 players this summer.

He produced some wonderful displays for us while here, but in terms of actually winning us games - I think you could count them on one hand. One of the articles in Spain described him as a defensive liability, and to a certain extent if you analyse his time with us under Klopp, that is probably what he was. I think @rurikbird posted some stats saying that we won more games without him or something. To have him and our regular front three - essentially meant a loss of solidity in midfield, typical games would be the last game he played for us at the Emirates, we did well in the first half and then second half Arsenal just poured forward and bypassed our midfield. Shit like that always happened to us, and it's no wonder that we cut down on drawing games from winning positions after he left.

If you want a creative player for midfield, then get someone with some muscle and aggression at least. Also one of the reasons why he has been a flop so far at Barca, is that you could never be convinced with his mindset. I mean with Suarez, and Masha - you knew they would be a success at Barca, they had that aggressive hunger and determination to win games and throw their toys out of the pram if they were losing. With Coutinho - he used to vanish from games like Ozil does for Arsenal on a more regular basis.

Do miss those outside of the box bangers though. Do wish we had a player capable of that

So do I, and Ox is due to return - he does rockets, and Salah if I remember correctly hit a rocket against Chelsea. They look great, but more often these days other teams close us down outside the box very quickly. That may not change even if we bought him back.

Barcas recruitment policy over the last few years has been really poor. Coutinho is a symptom of this, same as Dembele. Thats well over £200m on players who have contributed very little. They have also held onto Suarez too long, his legs have gone completely. He was strolling around the pitch on Tuesday like a Sunday league player, looks about a stone heavier than when he was with us. Messi is still an incredible player but hes carrying the attack on his own. I think Valverde will go this summer and there will be a shake up in the staff, probably 2 of Suarez, Coutinho and Dembele will get the boot.
