Never understood people defending this character as if he’s some fearless truth-teller being persecuted for his views.
Perhaps his original impulse, many years ago, has been uncovering the inconvenient truth, but he has long ago been coopted into being simply a useful participant in compromat wars waged by autocratic states and corrupt oligarhs. Worst of all, he is utterly reckless with his sources, some of whom lost their freedom and even lives because of him.
