United Post Match

Klopp got outcoached today. Totally neutralised us.
Can afford to make two mistakes like that against a Mourinho team.

We don't deserve to win for sure. They definitely defended well and gave us no chance

Didn't get to see the first hour so I don't habe much to say other than the two goals were disappointingly similar.
Two kick outs from De Gea aimed at Lukaku, who was being marked by Lovren. Lovren doesn't win the first and gives possession away with the second.

Somebody please do the RAAAAAAAAAAATINGS!

Oh, very well, here are my beloved RAAAAAAAAAATINGS!

I don't think anyone with any clue about football expected that game to be anything other than brutally tough, and fewer still thought it would be an easy win for Liverpool, playing against a manager who is untouchable when it comes to strangling the life out of a game, and one of the best defences and keepers in the league.

Sure enough, Shitcoat played two gigantic DMs, and gave our attacking trio zero space or time to play in, as evidenced by the zero goal threat and the fact that De Gea didn't have to make any saves. They ruthlessly exposed TAA, and Rashford at times looked like he was going to end his career at RB, such was the runaround he gave him.

After that, the usual cynicism, fouling and time-wasting took over, and they allowed us to have the ball, knowing we would do fuck all with it. We had 12 corners and wasted every one. Even our goal was a freakish OG. Our passing was fucking disgusting and we simply frittered away what few opportunities we had. There were two possible penalties, the first looked solid, but the ref gave us little all afternoon, the massive cunt.

I hate Mourinho and obviously despise United, so this is a very bitter pill to swallow, but they deserved the three points, we simply didn't play well enough

Karius (7) much maligned, but much improved. Had no chance with the first wonderful finish. Made some great clearances from his box, and one super tackle late on.

TAA (3) fucking dreadful. Rashford terrified him in the first half, and turned him inside out at will. Positionally inept and kept falling over. A mercy when he was hooked

Lovren (4) had one of those Lovren halves of football when he genuinely seems to be lobotomised. Bullied by Lukaku, and kept being dragged out wide to help the hapless Arnold, leaving giant gaps. Actually better in the second half, with several brilliant headers and tackles,, but the stupidity was never far from the surface

Virgil (5) hmmm. Won plenty in the air, but seemed to be rather absent at times, and failed to impose himself

Robertson (6) energy and running was there, and he rarely took a step back, but he didn't find as much space as usual, with Mane giving him little support outside.

Can (6) probably the pick of the midfield, he saw plenty of the ball, and worked hard, but he was too often slow in possession and made some sloppy passes.

Milner (6) always gives everything, but too often left Can on his own as he chased the ball wide, and isn't the player you need to calmly exert influence, as his passing isn't good enough. Tired, which is understandable

Chamberlain (4) he can only do one thing: get the ball and run forward. When there's too many players in the way, he simply runs into them and loses the ball. Isn't a clever footballer, and was dreadful really

Mane (4) worked hard, showed for the ball, ran at players and was a threat. Or would have been if his passing wasn't all over the place like a mad woman's piss. He gave it away so often, it was almost comical.

Salah (5) was afforded no time or space. It's hard to play well when you have two or three 6 foot 3 grocks kicking and pushing you all game. Constantly trying to wriggle past a sea of Mancs, to no avail. Blazed a last minute effort over.

Firmino (5) reverted back to his previous seasons' type of game: worked hard, but looked totally incapable of actually scoring a goal, and didn't look like he even wanted to.

Subs:

Lallana (4) slow and ineffective.
Wijnaldum (5) passed sideways a few times.

You worry way less about it when you don't watch.
I was in 2 minds whether I should keep playing Skyrim. Downloaded arkham city to play again too

Both would have me a lot less fucking irritated now

.

.
Hendo didn't play

Says it fucking all though

I honestly don't think any change of personnel would have made a difference

Matip is as equally prone to misjudging things. It might not have been lukaku and rashford, but it would have been someone, as that right cb/right back was the weak link

In bizzarro World that is probably true

No. It is true, Jose did what we expected him to do and won, tell me how that's unlucky? We fucked ourselves over defensively with Lovren playing predictably like a twat, and our attack got bullied by yard dogs like Smalling.

We got what we deserved, its like when Everton face us and predictably capitulate, we do the same at Old Trafford. It sucks but we do.

Jose inevitably leaving doesn't necessarily mean it'll go tits up though, unfortunately.
Are any managers doing on their way up though? Seems to be same faces across Europe

Simeone and pochettino are the only 2 who have done enough that united could be tempted by

I dont see why Mane is the only one getting slated of the front three. That was easily the worst game Ive seen from Salah in a red shirt, his head dropped after about 30 mins and he never looked like getting into the game. Firmino, like Mane, tried but was woefully ineffective.

I dont think there is a better manager than Mourinho in the world at identifying an opponents weakness and exploiting it. They clearly isolated Lovren one on one against Lukaku and had Rashford ready to run in behind TAA. We can bitch about referees all night but the fact is they knew exactly how to open us up. We could have played for another 90 mins and not created a decent chance.

Klopp was totally out manoeuvred from the first whistle.

Karius - 6
TAA - 3
Lovren - 3
Virgil - 6
Robertson - 6
Can - 6
Milner - 5
Ox - 4
Salah - 4
Mane - 6
Firmino - 5

It isnt. But whatever. We lost regardless

Karius - 6.0 - No chance with their 2 shots on goal, decent punches on corners and quick off his line. Encouraged that he AT LEAST looks more decisive and confident.

TAA - 3.0 - Dreadful game. Two mistakes from him on the 1st goal, switches off and loses Rashfords run, recovers, then stands off and gets turned inside out. 2nd goal, turns his back on Rashford as he shoots. Basic defending lessons needed as he'll get targeted in the CL. Whens Clyne back?

Robertson - 6.0 - Defended his side ok with usual energy and aggression, didn't manage to link up with Milner in getting behind them often enough.

VVD - 6.0 - Won his individual duals/headers, but seemed unable to galavanise and lead his defence when we were up against it (which is what I expect from him).Maybe taking Lukaku off Lovren. Big threat from corners and should have scored!

Lovren - 3.5 - Completely dominated by Lukaku, couldn't win a header most of the game. Played Mata onside for what should have been a 3rd goal, then did his usual losing his head, rash tackles act allowing Utd to time waste. An emotional, stupid defender.

Can - 5.5 - Looked lethargic and laboured in his pressing, passing was slow, sloppy and predictable, which unfortunately set the tempo for the rest of the midfield.

Milner - 6.0 - Put in his usual shift and managed to work some good crosses into the box, but ran out of gas 2nd half. Needs a rest.

Ox - 5.0 - Looked what he is, a midfielder still learning how to play in midfield. Running with it when he should pass, then picking the wrong pass, losing possesion needlessly. For all his physical and technical attributes, patience and intelligence are lacking from his game.

Mane - 4.5 - Seemed to be trying to play as a Coutinho type playmaker, but with awful passing, poor ball retention and woeful decision making. When he remembered that hes actually a Winger, he made our goal.

Firmino - 5.5 - Struggled to get into the game, mostly surrounded by defenders and unable to link up our attack. Never looked like scoring.

Salah - 5.5 - Marked out of the game and well tracked on his runs until that penalty shout, maybe he should have played for the penalty.

Subs: Lallana / Gini / Dom - 5.0 - No impact.

United defended very deep and Salah and Firminho were always surrounded.

Mourinho was able to set his team like this because there was no Coutinho in midfield. We had so much possession around 40 yards from their goal, because they let us have it. There was no guille to open up with passing, nor the ability to slalom past a few a few outstretched legs and stick one in the top corner. It was an easy decision for Mourinho in hindsight.

We brought Lallana on to improve at least the build up play, but he was hopelessly out of touch.

Deserved to lose, all that needs to be said.

Fucking hate Old Trafford and I fucking hate Mancs.

Where in the name of Fowler did I say we were great?! I just said Utd didnt deserve their win.
United executed their game plan better than we did, so they deserved the points

We can't justify it by saying De gea had a great game like previous times.

This time we were shite.

They got two early goals.
The first was a result of mistakes by Lovren and Arnold.
The second was following another mistake by Lovren and a couple of deflections.
Both goals were well taken by Rashford.
They didn't have much more than this.

They then reverted to parking the bus and wasting time for the entire 2nd half.

True, we weren't great. Far from it. But, had the ref awarded us one or even two penalties that we deserved, things cooud have looked different, as could the result.

And I'm pretty sure that their fans are not happy with that sort of footbal.

So, I don't think it's fair to say they deserved their win.

Ok, we'll disagree

But their fans didn't look unhappy beating their rivals and looking comfortable doing so

We'll disagree then [emoji6]

Off course their fans looked happy beating us. Comfortable? I'm not sure about that.

The MU fans I know are far from happy watching this style of play and time wasting. These antics used to be attributed to latin teams. Now it's being used by MU.

Yeah, they looked and sounded distraught, beating us 2-0 and going 5 points clear of us in second place

I'd be furious
