Sturridge has looked very good pre-season. But with 12months left what do we do. We’re gonna be gutted if he plays like that all season and then walks away.

Good run out for most of the players. Some look more ready then others, but hopefully we’ll be ready on Sunday.

TAA impressed and should start on Sunday.

Perfect last game of the pre-season. Firmino got off the mark, Gini scored for the 2nd game running, Studge put an exclamation point on his best pre-season in years. Trent has made a strong claim to start the first game – Klopp will have a headache about this one for sure. Shaqiri was impressive again, Lallana maybe not so much. Robertson has also been a bit "meh" this pre-season, hope he picks up again soon. I like the look of Phillips, he has calmness and presence, but definitely needs to iron out quite a few mistakes – I would send him out on loan as soon as we have adequate cover at CB. Oh, and Hendo is back! We look ready to do big things; let the season begin!

He kind of owes us for paying his salary through the injured years. If he's having a good season, I think he'll have an extension signed by January.

Definitely for Sunday Allison GK, Robbo RB, VVD CB, TAA LB, Naby & Fab in CM and the usual 3 up front. The other 2 are a matter of personal preference.

I think he'll stay with us ... he's happy here and he's found a role, if he's healthy, where he can contribute big time.
He looked absolute class every time I've seen him this preseason.

That's beautiful. Love how Shaqiri is patiently setting up a shot for his left-foot cannon and at the last moment notices Sturridge and executes a perfect dink over the top. You can't defend against this combination of awareness and skill. Let's hope he can keep this attitude throughout the season.

Incredible from Shaq. Says alot about his mindset that he looks for the cross and doesnt just hammer in a shot.
This times a million. At Stoke he'd have probably gone for goal and probably scored but to play in Studge. Delightful.

Shaq and Studge, touch wood, are really going to give us bench options of serious quality.

That was the difference. I know it's only a friendly, but when you think about those games we struggle to close out, or when we need to claw something back. It's the difference between throwing on Solanke and/or Ings and putting those two on. Strength in depth, but depth that doesn't reduce the quality of the match day XI if they're used.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shaqiri starts ahead of Keita at the weekend. Because he looks sharper and fitter, which allows us the luxury of bedding in Keita a bit.

Both Shaq and Studge are technically gifted and provide high quality squad depth and competition for places in the team... it's really good to see.

When Shaqiri gets a starting berth ( injury, resting players etc ), I honestly think he will be hard to displace for a while.

He has surprised the fuck out of me. Like a midget jumping out of my cupboard in a clown suit shouting 'SURPRISE!' surprised.

I must say I am taken by suprise by this one. He has been brilliant in his first few outings. I had a discussion regarding him before we signed him between a few friends. One of them called him a cruel signing, but he trusted Klopp. I said I doubted this guy would ever impress again. And here I sit with a "Wow - what the fuck was that" feeling!

It really is the perfect move for Shaqiri. He has that air of huge natural ability that often flourishes in bigger teams with better players around him. But he landed 'there' when he lacked maturity and his career stalled ending up at Stoke in a state of mutual frustration.

Now he's 28, entering the prime of his career (I'm sure Klopp is reminding him of that) with the pressure of time and benefit of maturity to bring to bear on his time here. Klopp, as is his style, will have him both working harder than at any time of his career and motivating him encouragingly to do so.

It's a win win. We're going to get the best years out of a very gifted creative player and he's going to have the satisfaction of playing for a top side at the top of his own game.

13m eh?
