We always seem reluctant to sign players until they have a year in the Premier League, so i decided to get ahead of the game and figure out who we'll be chasing next summer.

Richarlison
, Watford- Bought for £11.5 from Fluminese this summer. Only 20 years old and he's takenqp to the Premiership quickly. 3 goals in 7 games while showing plenty of skill and determination.

Tammy Abraham, Swansea - making Conte's decision to send him out on loan look stupid. He had an impressive spell last season on loan in the Championship. And at age 20 has 5 goals in 10 games for Swansea this season. Can't see Chelsea selling him now.

Davinson Sanchez, Spurs - He's one of the players we should have signed instead of chasing Van Dijk. Looking like a good physical, athletic centre back. His next move will inevitably be to United / Barca or Madrid though.

James Tarkowski, Burnley - stepped into the spot left by Keane's transfer. And he's having a better season than Keane. Looks like an old fashioned no nonsense defender. Shane Duffy kinda falls into this category as well.

I'm sure there are a few others

I think Sanchez was Spurs' record signing at 38m or something. so I don't think that's likely, even if you factor in the 'why would he leave Spurs to join a club who aren't as good' bit

Good thread though. There's a certain inevitability about it.

For me is we were to go for another winger then Zaha is the one for me. His fee though would be 40m plus though. Zaha is like a tall version of Mane, determination and skill. More likely he will be bought by Man Utd (again) or City by the end of the season although Spurs should probably go for him as they lack true wingers with pace. Maybe we can give them part exchange deal and offer them Origi.

He's like a tall Mane who doesn't score goals

First name that struck my mind. Looking like a coup for Watford (though, seeing Udinese's previous successes in the S.American market, this was probably 'unsurprising').

[article]No player in the Premier League this season has won more fouls than Richarlison (26), level with Tottenham Hotspur dynamo Dele Alli.

With the league eight matches young, only three clubs – Manchester City (29), Manchester United (21) and Spurs (15) – have outscored Watford (13) so far.

And to say to say Richarlison has made a positive contribution is an understatement.

Of those 13 strikes, the Brazilian U20 international has been directly involved in more than a quarter (three goals, one assist).

No Premier League player has scored more post-85th minute goals than Richarlison, level with Anthony Martial on two.

This also suggests a knack for scoring in difficult circumstances, and all three of Richarlison’s Premier League goals so far have come away from home. In fact, only Harry Kane (6), Sergio Aguero (4) and Alvaro Morata (4) have scored more away goals in the division this season. Richarlison is level with Romelu Lukaku on three.

His goals have so far won the Hornets three points. Richarlison’s first came at Bournemouth (2-0), but all three points were in the bag as his effort came in the 73rd minute. His second, a 93rd minute winner away to Swansea City (2-1), saw Silva’s men add two more points to the one they had. The latest, again on the road this time at West Brom coming in the 95th minute, earned the Hertfordshire-based club a point.

From an aesthetic standpoint Richarlison, who learned his trade on the streets of Belo Horizonte, meshes the classic and contemporary. He’s a real mercurial winger. His ambidexterity, guile and electric pace – subsequently in the Premier League’s top 10 when it comes to take ons (16) – have made him a defender’s nightmare.

His languid style, measuring at 1.79m, has made him an aerial threat – winning 43% of his aerial duels to date – in fact he’s the only player to win 15+ aerial duels and take-ons in the Premier League this season so far.

Accusations of being a one-trick pony fall on deaf ears when he’s producing the numbers. In terms of inventiveness he’s created 11 chances, meaning he’s averaging 1.38 per game, no Watford player has a better output.[/article]

Mikel Merino seems to be adapting fairly well to the league too?

Yeah Merino is a good shout. I watched one Newcastle game on TV (apart from ours against them) and i thought he was very promising.

I wasn't surprised when i found out he was on loan from Dortmund.

Mario Lemina probably should be mentioned simply because he plays for Southampton - but i haven't seen him play.

He's so (far so) good that they activated the option (£6.5m) to buy just 2 months into his loan deal.

Tarkowski will look just as out of sorts as Keane, if he moves somewhere else.
Yet another defender that thrives at defending deep and in the way Burnely are set up.
He's also very poor on the ball, and would be an awful signing for us.

The whole Brighton back four looked good against West Ham last night.......solid, committed to the cause, bodies on the line stuff. But then again, it was against West Ham

Zaha just played his first two PL games of the season and scored in both games. The way he is playing at the moment he will be playing Champions League football next year.

I'm not sure even the most optimistic Palace fan thinks that

That Demarai Gray lad added about 30M onto his valuation for that slalom run against the bluenoses, so we'll likely wax about 90M on him at some stage.

Everybody is waxing lyrical about Gray and Richarlison at the moment and CFC fans love Abraham but there's no way CFC will let him go to a rival (saying that .. Matic). All of those 3 will end up as big money (30M+) transfers I'd wager, should they retain their form.

Did you see how BAD chelsea's defense looked yesterday?
There's no way they'll sell.
I know they probably won't but the fact Conte has not played him frequently so far might leave a gap open for potential suitors. Probably not, but he's is EXACTLY what our defence need. Him and Van Dijk would have the potential to be the best CB pairing in the Premiership.

He can't get INTO that Chelsea defence, which seems a bit strange given that the usually dependable Cahill has had a wobbly time of it, and Luiz appears to be playing less well than last year too. Haven't seen much of Rudiger, so can't comment much.

Has Zouma also been farmed out/ sold?

It seems a lot of Chelsea's fans don't understand it either, as they believe Christensen has been their best performing central defender so far this season. He'll probably be back in come the weekend after last nights shambles but who knows if they somehow find it too difficult to drop Cahill or Luiz (which seems to be the case their fans are making) he might be tempted to leave and they might be tempted to cash in.

Zouma is on loan somewhere which also seems a bit odd.

I'm sure he will be back sooner or later. The whole defence appears to be suffering, because all of the individuals are having a little dip in form at the same time. Azpilicueta seems unrecognisable from the superb player he was last season too.

Zouma at stoke.
He's gangly but I really like him too.

Christensen hasnt looked that good the few matches I've seen him play. That said, he cant be any worse than the rest of their defence at the moment.

Rudiger supposedly had a mare yesterday .. at least from the text updates I was reading I didn't see the game.

This season is making me even more pissed off that we didn't sign Ben Davies. He's a mix of dependable and threatening - what a great mix! Trippier too looks excellent at times, and someone who @Pesam highlighted many years ago.
