Last five games: LDLLL
Should be noted that their last 5 games were against Man U, Man C, Southampton, Leicester and Chelsea.

Their manager Francesco Guidolin is on the brink of being sacked, so the club is not in a good place at the moment.

Fernandez and Dyer are out injured.

Only saw highlights of their game against City but it didn't look good at all.
4-2-3-1 line up with Britton, Cork and Sigurdsson infront.
Fer and Routledge on the wings and Llorente up front.

Should be dangerous on the counter, but their defence is a bit iffy.
Llorente is strong in the air so Matip should definitely be marking him.

I can't see Swansea sitting back against us, I don't think they'd be able to cope.

We should probably play the same XI we did against Hull bar Klavan who Lovren should replace.

Sturridge on the bench?
I never imagined myself saying this but I really don't think it matters at the moment. Which is obviously a good thing.

We played a horrendous game there last season. Time to revenge that. Even though they're in some bad form they're not a bad side on their day. Could be a tough game, but we need to continue winning games like this.

We've never looked altogether convincing away to Swansea although last season we practically had a youth side out as it was between the Villarreal games. They attempt to play a bit of footy generally, which might be good news. I'm ludicrously confident at the moment so I fancy us to steamroller them. 0-3.

Having said that, back in the day 3-0 was a rollicking win. A doing. Now its like, we should have had a few more there. 3-0 isn't a steamrollering anymore.

I have a completely opposite take on this game from the OP: I think it's going to be a very tough game for us and we are likely to lose points. Swans played very well vs City and were unlucky to lose, we often had problems playing away against "smaller" teams under Klopp and some of our players might be thinking ahead towards the international break or the United game (just like this forum, with a 2-page thread on United game that's coming in 3 weeks, but only 4 posts on Swansea).

If we win this game, I will start believing that some of our usual consistency issues are becoming solved, but until that happens I'm keeping my expectations low.

Yeah, this has been my thinking aswell. They played well against City and we usually struggle there. One fluke win since they got promoted.

In fairness that thread is about getting tickets for the game, rather than a pre-match thread.

Our results at Swansea in the last 5 years:

2015/16 3:1 loss
2014/15 1:0 win
2013/14 2:2 draw
2012/13 0:0 draw
2011/12 1:0 loss

Took 5 out of 15 possible points. We have a better record away at Chelsea and Man City than at Swansea. I really don't understand why people expect us to "blow them away." Even if we end up winning, it's going to be a close game for sure.

I think people have belief in Klopp's system and the form of the team, which is in far and away the best shape we have been in going into an away game against Swansea in all the period you have highlighted. If we were going into the game with the team in the same form as in all those previous games, then I'd be cautiously pessimistic. But why be pessimistic when the team is playing scintillating football, and has confidence in away matches, particularly against 'footballing' teams? I don't think predicting a comfortable win is that shocking. If we can outplay Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea away, then is it so much of a stretch of the imagination to imagine us doing the same at Swansea?

They played well against city until the dubious penalty. On the plus side the manager is on his last legs so a could thumping and he will sacked. Similar to the match against spurs when avb was the manager.

Makes sense, but don't forget that in recent years our players have developed a habit of giving their all against "big" teams and stumbling in easier games on paper. Trouncing Hull isn't quite enough convince me that this problem is gone for good, because it was:
a) just one game
b) at home
c) against an objectively weaker team than the Swans, and
d) we lost our last away game against a "small" team (Burnley)

I'll be very pleasantly surprised if we blow Swansea away, but I think a more realistic expectation is that it's going to be a close game with all 3 results very much possible.

I agree with your concerns, Hull was a big test, and we passed, now playing away from Anfield against a non top 4 side is the next test. We've often relied on the Anfield crowd for energy when the players have not been motivated by the opponent, and the game on Saturday is a classic example of a game where we'd often falter, however I think you're being a little pessimistic here, we should be winning this game, simple, we're in superb form, they are not, it's our game to win, and hopefully we can continue to ride this wave of momentum, and that'll be enough to send us into the game flying, and play the way we need to to win.

I'm happy going into games still concerned, the moment I stop doing that & think we'll batter teams things always seem to go off the rails completely & utterly inexplicably.

We have a history this past few years of being the team to play when you cant buy a win.
We can kickstart the fuck out of a revival.
Big big test for Klopp, for how far we have come.

Guys

Finally the wait for our next game is coming to an end. I refuse to believe that we will lose this game - Swansea are this seasons Newcastle for us. I predict a win by 5 goals. Share my fucking dream.

Klopp has said the air was cleared in a meeting and its all In the past, I doubt thatll provide an imminent return to the squad though given a myriad of other, professional reasons
Like I said in the u23 match thread Sakho is still a capable defender and he played well.
His problem is that Klopp has Lovren, Matip, Klavan and Lucas ahead of him.
So yeah, he can train with the first team but I really don't see him getting any games.

Anyways, tell me more about this young Swedish lad the echo is linking us to, the next zlatan apparently..

Oh you mean Alexander Isak from AIK?
Imagine a Swedish Rashford.

I honestly haven't seen that much of him because I don't really follow the domestic league and the Swedish national team has an age limit.
No matter how talented you are, you don't get a chance to play unless you're like 24.
Obviously joking, but our two most talented players domestically are Isak and Larsson (Henrik's son). They deserve a chance to play for the national team and they're not getting it. The only reason a 19 year old Zlatan was given a chance was because of immense pressure from the media.

Anyway, Isak is the typical modern striker. What I like about him is that he's fearless. Has an amazing ability to be in the right place at the right time.
He's quick, tall, decent ballcontrol and quite mature for his age, he's 17.

Would he benifit from coming here and play for the reserves? I'm not sure.

Re: the Swans. Big fuck off stumbling block approaching.

I notice the Echo are giving it the 'we're the dogs....' big time. Always a bad sign.

Humble city please.
