I would keep him and use him as Bobby's cover. On his day he is one of the best strikers in the world.
Inga we should get a decent fee for, seeing that Ward just went for £12.5m, Ings should be £25m

Classic pre-season hope. Fuck him off. He's done.
I have to somewhat agree. It's pre season against a div 1 side. But we need backup and he's the best we've got.
I'd rather sell Solanke and Ings.

He was a fantastic talent with a real eye for goal. His chronic injury problems have robbed him of a yard of pace and as a result he seems unable to create the space for himself to get his shot off. Last season he was mostly unfit, when he was fit he was sluggish and off the pace. I think its time to let him go, if hes still got anything left as a player hes too good to play 30 mins every fortnight and the occasional cup game.

We've been here like a thousand times. There is no chance he ever stays fit for more than 10 games a season.

What's the point?

The alternatives are if we don't buy any one else? If someone says here's £20m, I'd sell him in a shot. However, with his salary as it is and him being in the last year of his contract we will only get miserly offers.
Origi and Ings will most likely leave, Solanki needs match time and needs to go out on loan.
I don't think we have anymore money in the kitty especially since we gave out quite a few lucrative contracts to existing players. Even if we did it wouldn't near enough to pay for a decent CF

I know we've been here before, but he does look fitter then ever this pre season.
The link up between Keita and Sturridge was interesting to see last night as well. When fit he's one of the best finishers around, shame he's never fit mind.

He's got 1 year left on his deal. We wont get much of a fee and will probably end up paying a part of his fee anyway. If he keeps this up in pre season, I'm not totally against keeping him for 1 more year. But yeah, he'll probably break both legs the day before West Ham.

Nah.

He's lost whatever pace he had, is largely immobile in a highly energetic system, is wholly unreliable regards fitness and has lacked sharpness/been in general decline for 2-3 years now.

I can't fathom how anyone would want him as back-up in a potentially title challenging season and in this system. Crazy talk!

Its not about fitness though is it. He is peak usually. His muscles, ligaments, joints etc cannot stand up to the rigours of professional football. Its a shame but lets be real. We will all be like maybe MAYBE this time and then we will see the match squad for west ham and he isnt in it and we hear hes out for 2-3 weeks and the cycle continues.
I would sell him for a quid and save the £10m ages this year.

Yeah, that would be the logical thing to do. I would be more comfortable selling him if we had some back up for Firmino.

As I've said a million times, even if he could stay fit - bear with me - I'm concerned that the 100% fit Sturridge of 2018 is still nowhere near the player that the 100% fit Sturridge of 2013 was.

That initial burst of acceleration, and searing pace just doesn't seem there any more.

Thought there was a bit more spring in his step and more willingness to run yesterday, but that could also just be wishful thinking. The long lost hope that the 2013 Sturridge will return.

He looks sharp in pre -season and could play the withdrawn role (number 10) if we don't sign fekir.

Not gonna happen, you know it's not gonna happen... sure you want it to happen, every fan is willing him on to be fit and firing on all cylinders..but he's done, he's broken and just not able to hit the heights and speeds we require of him.

Love ya Studge but I need Liverpool to start winning some real trophies

Jesus Christ this again?

Sell him or put him down.

Whatever we do keeping him should not be an option

Don't do this to yourself. Second week of the season you will see a news article on Sturridge hobbling off the pitch.

Yeah Sturridge is fucked. Expect zero from him. Anything more is a bonus.

There's that, but also that the all action, pressing, wildly energetic style of play encouraged in Klopp's system has never been Studge's style- who is much more in the school of a striker you hardily notice before he pops up with a brace of goals. Suarez's harem-scarem play would have been a beautiful fit in a Klopp team, but Studge, even at his glorious best would not have been a natural Klopp player.

On the one hand, what the fuck is the point in selling him for £10m, if he is prepared to shut up and play with 100% commitment in a squad role, great.

On the other hand, how many fucking times have we been here before. He uses up £150k a week wages, can't stay fit, and if IF he scores in 2 games in the bounce will be bitching about deserving a starting berth, being shown more respect, blah blah blah.

On balance - cut him loose

Surely he can only have 12months left on his contract? I'm sure we gave him that whopping 5yr contract in 2014 after Suarez went and he's been broken ever since. If he's only got the 12months left we either re-sign him this summer or sell him, and there's no way he's done enough to earn a new contract, and we're not going to let him go on a free.

To think I got lambasted by some on here at the mere mention of selling him a few years back after the depressing Rodgers season that ended in us being humiliated by no other than Stoke..

Given we have no other decent options as back up to Bobby, I'm up for keeping him if he can accept an off the bench role

I just think he will have a little bit more to offer now with Keita pulling the strings from midfield...

People seem to forget in his 2013/14 season, apart from linking up with Suarez he also benefited from a Stevie G pinging the ball all over the place..

We look to have that back with Keita.. This will Suit Studge style extremely well..

This all assuming the cunt can stay fit of course

Keita has been picking out Studge time and again to be fair.
The midfield will do the Donkey work too so he doesn't necessarily have too. We have the class in midfield to do just that..

Fit.. He will provide us with a good option from the bench.. He can just press the back line.. Bit like Vardy for Leicester does..

A kinda plan B if you like.. A Goal scorer from the bench..

Fuck we ain't had one of them for years..

As a super sub he's a great option. He's not a starter. 2 up front him and Firmino sounds tasty though. If only

Sturridge would not press the back line like Vardy.

I can't believe I just had to write that.

Ok, if you keep him and he does ok/good, he leaves for free next summer? You have to do something with him this summer, new contract or sell him.
