"Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal."

In light of the fucking news plastered about Coutinho non-stop, I thought I'd post what Rose said yesterday (not to mention wondering why Spurs' squad isn't as deep as Chelsea's, or that he wants to play up north).  I think the above is why Spurs will most likely see their best players picked off in the coming years.

It's why it's even more imperative for our club to invest money NOW and try and win a few trophies ... No better way to keep & attract players than to be a WINNING club.  History is great, but what does it mean for a player wanting to win now?

This is going to be a difficult season for Spurs.  They have lost a couple of players, not really brought in anyone of note, AND they have the whole playing all their home games at Wembley to factor in. Remember, they were pretty dire at Wembley last year in the champions league games, only winning against CSKA. Compare that with the 17 wins and 2 draws at WHL in the league and it could see Spurs slide well out of top four territory this season.

Agreed, and I hope they will struggle.
Wouldnt put it past Levy to get a few decent signings in before the window closes mind.

Playing at Wembley could be a huge factor, and lets hope a few other of their players think the same as Rose.

Verthongen said the same a few weeks ago.

There transfer net spend over the last few years has been a net positive or there abouts.  They are doing what Arsenal have done and that is paying for a stadium but there stadium is costing few hundreds millions more.

I don't think history comes into it that much. Recent history is way more important than what happened in the 80's anyway.

Players want to win and they want to see the club go all out all of the time - the difficulty is thats not always financially possible / a good idea.

A perfect example of a bad time to do it was when we brought in Hodgson and gave him the task of getting a CL spot whilst giving him limited funds to it - as any average manager would he took the shortcut of buying players he'd worked with who he felt he could rely on immediately.
He also tried to offload a young and unreliable Henderson for an in form Dempsey. I think i'm right in saying we got Joe Cole, Poulsen and Konchesky ?

That attempt to push for 4th set us back quite a bit. Even though we probably had to do it for the potential financial consequences.

As a club we don't have that recent track record of being in the CL and competitive in the home competitions - much like Spurs - so its harder for a player to believe we're going to do what it takes to compete.  We can't simply tell a player to trust us and things will work out since we have no recent history of it ever happening.

If you've got that equity with players you can go and buy players that you need to google which might not excite the current squad but ultimately will be of benefit to the club overall.

As an example of younger players who moved to or from Premiership clubs in 2010:
    Seamus Coleman
    Kyle Walker
    Ryan Bertrand
    Marcos Alonso
    Koscielny
    Jerome Boateng
    Mousa Dembele

Now lots of shite players moved too, but every year there are great deals to be had bit  we've got to build up that reputation for getting things right before the squad or new signings will trust us so we can have the freedom to make those signings

I thought the Henderson for Dempsey episode was under Brodge not Hodge

Their pay structure will end up fucking them up, and this interview smells of Raheem.

The only shock is it was just him and not half the squad

The building of a new stadium does not help with their pay structure. They only need to look across north London and look at their neighbours to see this.

    He said this also.

"I will say this too, I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere. I am going to make it my priority before I retire to play football up there"

Either he has his head turned by City or United or he wants to be the left back for House Stark.
