3 full days rest until kickoff so, I'm expecting Firmino to start again, he should be fit.
Keita back into the fold.
Milner getting a well deserved rest, looked knackered at the end of last nights game.

Don't see many surprises.

Potential line up:

Becker

TAA
Gomez
VD
Robbo

Hendo
Keita
Wijnaldum

Mane
Firmino
Salah

We have the league cup after, right?

A brief respite there and chance for some of the rested players

I can see 1-2 changes, nothing more.
Then rest key players in the league cup.

Klopp will send on three subs between 70-80 mins and rotate the lot of them (near enough) for the LC game.

---------------------Alisson--------------
--- TAA --- Gomez --- VvD ---- Robbo
--------------------Hendo---------------
--------Gini*-----------------Keita---------
----Salah*-------Firmino -----Mane*---------

* will get subbed off perhaps, for Milner or Fabinho, Shaqiri and Matip or Studge (depending on how the game is going).

Not sure he’ll change much.

We’ve won 6 on the bounce.

This is the first game where our opponents have had a much bigger rest period though.

I expect us to look lacklustre compared to them.

Hopefully we have enough to scrap over the line. Any win will do

Feels good we have some quality in the squad to keep things fresh without a huge drop in quality.

Keita definitely starts. Shaq and Fabinho must be close.

I wonder how close we are to a bit of rotation in defence or is klopp ignoring that to allow relationships to develop? Big bonus that Robertson and Virgil had the summer off.

Surely Clyne is due a run out/ TAA rested

Soton got a pretty well-drilled central midfield pairing in Lamina and Højbjerg. Having watched their last two games I think that's the main area for us to try and shut down. They are both strong and creative but they lack pace somewhat. Wijnaldum could be key for us here, and I'd field him alongside Milner and Keita.

*And we have to make sure that Pierre-Emile won't get any near our goal because he's ON FIRE at the moment, really angling himself for that Liverpool move it seems..

Milner had 2 weeks off, is in the form of his life and will have the league cup off, would be veey surprised/unhappy if he doesnt start at the weekend. Hes clearly the best midfielder in every respect that we've got

tough to disagree with that.

We're gonna make him look very ordinary. He'll be busy trying to keep our midfield in check.

He looked tired towards the end of the PSG game.

I'd imagine any player in that midfield would be tired towards th end of the psg game!

but yeah, its fucking september and hes had 2 weeks off already, he will be fine..
You have him as your avatar so I'm guessing that you're partial towards Milner.
Like I said, I agree with what you said earlier, but we really don't need him for the Southampton game. I think it's more important to have him fresh for the Chelsea game.

I'd like to see Fabinho given his first start in this one. I was thinking about the possibility of including Shaqiri as one of the midfielders, but Keita has to start after being rested on Tuesday and Milner is just undroppable at the moment. He'll get his rest in the League cup. Hopefully this will be a game when the front 3 finally fires on all cylinders.

-----------------Alisson------------------
----------Gomez-----Van Dijk---------
Trent---------Fabinho----------Robbo
-------Milner--------------Keita---------
Salah---------Firmino-----------Mane

They'll struggle to adjust without Ings already I think - he's been such an influential player for them.

Full strength (based on form) for this and rest everyone good for the Chelsea game. Chelsea is where I think we should first see Fabinho.

--------------Alisson--------------
TAA---Gomez---VVD---Robbo
---Milner----Gini----Keita-------
-Salah-----Firmino---Mane

Could easily see Hendo for Keita but i'd like to see this dynamic trio take the Saints midfield apart.
