Fucking hell guys. It was ok the dying moments of an intens game and he was just thrown at the deep end of it. If he was a cool guy he would play more. He won the ball as a proper defender and finished the attack as one as well. Noone is having a go at the captain for finishing like a school kid earlier so leave Moreno alone for his miss.

I have some sympathy with this post. It was an awful miss, and yes he should have passed, but he won the ball well and got up the pitch quickly.

He probably also had all of the travelling support shouting SHOOOOOOT which would give big adrenaline. Poor guy.

Contrast with Wijnaldum who was in a similar situation a minute later, but with a lot more people between him and the goal. I thought he kept the ball beautifully.

I'd prefer a player to have a shot at goal when the goalkeeper isn't in it

But they didn't?

That's alright then I guess

In the future. Turn the tv off if we're winning, and ignore the Internet. that way we win the league every season

Hindsight is brilliant but at the time he was a spasticated fucking bag of santorum

It was hectic but we won. Same way as people was bananas for half a week after the Stoke match cause a lot of things could have been different. And we moan when we don't win which is fucking happening to often... so relax, breath with your stomach, put the three hard fought points in the bank and enjoy it. First win away against Pulis. I guess noone expected a handy 3-0?

I prefer a player to have a shot AT goal...not curling it wide.

If you can't shoot or don't have a good position/ shape then pass the ball

Huge win and in a manner I didn't think we were capable of. Excuse the cliché but a real team performance. Firmino the pick of the bunch and I thought that was Clyne's best game in a while also.

We had 3 attackers out in Jan/Feb
No other team has been as unlucky as us this season
Henderson
Lallana
Mane
Sturridge
Ings
Can
All out for long periods. Im just not convinced its where the problem lies.
If we buy a CF (lets say for the sake of argument Lacazette) we will have to drop one of those 3 OR drop a midfielder.

If we spent our money on a world class CB and DM id be far happier than signing some second rate striker and say dropping Firmino or Mane.

I hope that we start next season with the same front 3.
Lallana is a shoe in for me too. If we had a Kante holding then it means Wijnaldum and Henderson the two in question.

Id be really happy to see a squad like this next year

Mignolet
LB
CB
Matip
Clyne

DM
Wijnaldum
Lallana

Mane
Firmino
Coutinho

Squad:
Lovren
Milner
Can
Henderson
Sturridge
Origi
Ings
Gomez
Karius
Etc

I know its pretty simplistic and obviously whoever leaves will need replacing (and I know its a first 11 and thats stupid) but I dont think we really have any problems up top.

I think that as a squad looks bangin.
Theres good depth there.

Say we sign Lacazette or Dolberg or whomever, it messes up a system that works brilliantly. Dunno. Just thinking out loud really.

Wed be seriously unlucky if we go through another season with the same level of injuries. Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal and Spurs have had next to none (Kane and Aguero the only exception)

Good post however you could argue our slump and injury problems happened as a result of fixtures piling up in Jan.

We'll make CL and have much more congestion in the first half of next season.

Klopp's 100mph style leads to injuries and we will have just as many if not more next season.

Then there is the issue that the current squad really struggled to break down deep lying teams and seemed to run out of ideas on a number of occasions.

If we stick with what we have in an attacking sense I don't see us improving at all next season and more than likely going backwards.

I do agree that bringing in an average attacker is pointless, we need quality not quantity.

You also have to factor in form, Coutinho was gash for a few months as was Lallana and Firmino.

You can't expect them to be superb every week.

Am I the only one that thinks that a pass to anyone would have seen them be offside, (until more of them regrouped back in their half and then the chance may have gone) Remember offside is keeper plus one. Turns out, he might have been smarter than all of us on this occasion.

There was no need for him to try to bend it in rather than just take a straight shot at the centre of goal. He's a flipping div.

Sturridge was a fucking mile offside, but a pass to Can would not have been.

Would it? Fuck. I'm not even sure.

Yes good call, at the right time, it would have been an onside pass to Can, but you need someone (Moreno) with good peripheral vision/awareness.

That's like asking Mignolet to be our top scorer.

He has talent. He's just gormless.

Can was behind Moreno when he took the shot, a simple pass to his right and its 0-2.
Moreno is useless.

The thing that really gets me about him is he just NEVER learns. You'd think after the Europa League final performance he'd have been haunted by it, and desperate to show he could move on from it, but as far as one could tell he was as happy as Larry, and I bet he's the same now. When John Locke spoke of people being born with tabula rasa minds, he never envisaged Moreno, who has a mind that wipes itself clean every night. He's a fool.

To be fair, I can understand why Moreno went for glory, and I don't blame him for not passing it.

What I blame him for was the pathetic effort on an open goal, after he had done all the hard work. Yeah, he was quite a distance away, but any professional footballer that can't hit an 8 yard wide target even from that distance has problems.

Moreno is useless.
Assuming Can scores the same long range shot. He couldnt have gone any further as there was a defender back.
Its hardly a crime. He took a punt at an open goal and missed after breaking up a really dangerous situation at the edge of our box.
