Yeah and Madrid v Barca.

Theres loads of bigger derbys than Spurs v Arsenal. I doubt most of the 'world' even know thats a derby.
Milan v inter
Roma v Lazio

And that's without even mentioning Turkey or other violent derbies

The Telegraph did piece on these types of derbies a while back. Arsenal against Spurs was ranked as nr 15 out of 20. It certainly isnt in the top 4.

Fenerbace - Galatasaray, Partizan - Red Star, River Plate - Boca Juniors. In the World of football I think more fans would know about these derbies.

Great win, but we still look so shaky at the back.

Because it's West Brom and they still managed to carve open a fair few decent chances. I'm tired of seeing even pants teams do that to us. Maybe I'm being unfair on them and the utterly shit defending all season up until now has given me shit tinted spectacles. Dunno
Good three points either way

Said it in the match thread but felt the need to repeat - what a fucking footballer Firmino is.

Cunt was taking the piss at stages in that second half. I'm such a fan.
Unfortunately he attempted and failed to take the piss just outside our area when we were holding on at the end too. But that was just one very minor blot on what was a superb display.

That two games in a row he's won for us now, not bad for a striker who can't be guaranteed to get us a winning goal in those tight games.

Doesn't seem to affect Chelsea and spurs. This is the most solid we have looked and it's no coincidence it's been with a proper DM.
And as I said, when we have looked less dangerous offensively lately, it's no coincidence that its been with a less attack minded DM.

Im starting to hedge towards buying just defenders and a DM in summer.

Assuming that Sturridge goes and Ings is never going to contribute, I think we need at least attacking midfielders/strikers for next season's squad.

One of the many disillusioning things about the game these days, for me at least, is how when teams who want to win play against Pulis/Allardyce-type teams that want not to lose, and people react with astonishment that such teams are often really hard to break down and beat. Their whole raison d'etre is to be hard to break down and beat. Why it's ever deemed surprising that such games are a real struggle, and a bore to watch, is beyond me. I just hate those matches. They're not even fascinating tactically the way many Italian games can be. They're just predictable and painful to watch, with the added burden of knowing that, if you don't scrape a win, there will be days of 'how on earth did that happen' inquisitions. Even Barca sometimes struggle in such games. There's no mystery about it. It's just a challenge that has long ceased to be intellectually absorbing and is now just a repetitive bore war. Bring on Palace and prepare for more of the same. I can't wait until it's over.

Did you learn nothing from Jan?

Not to mention the extra European games.

We need 2/3 attacking players
We had 3 attackers out in Jan/Feb
No other team has been as unlucky as us this season
Henderson
Lallana
Mane
Sturridge
Ings
Can
All out for long periods. Im just not convinced its where the problem lies.
If we buy a CF (lets say for the sake of argument Lacazette) we will have to drop one of those 3 OR drop a midfielder.

If we spent our money on a world class CB and DM id be far happier than signing some second rate striker and say dropping Firmino or Mane.

I hope that we start next season with the same front 3.
Lallana is a shoe in for me too. If we had a Kante holding then it means Wijnaldum and Henderson the two in question.

Id be really happy to see a squad like this next year

Mignolet
LB
CB
Matip
Clyne

DM
Wijnaldum
Lallana

Mane
Firmino
Coutinho

Squad:
Lovren
Milner
Can
Henderson
Sturridge
Origi
Ings
Gomez
Karius
Etc

I know its pretty simplistic and obviously whoever leaves will need replacing (and I know its a first 11 and thats stupid) but I dont think we really have any problems up top.

I think that as a squad looks bangin.
Theres good depth there.

Say we sign Lacazette or Dolberg or whomever, it messes up a system that works brilliantly. Dunno. Just thinking out loud really.

Wed be seriously unlucky if we go through another season with the same level of injuries. Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal and Spurs have had next to none (Kane and Aguero the only exception)

100.

Same as an England fan. We play friendlies against Brazil or Spain and look really good then we play Slovakia or Sweden or whoever and look clueless.

I said earlier this season I have no idea why teams go toe to toe with us, they lose, ALWAYS. Its these 8 men behind the ball, 2 banks of 4 fuckers that drive me to despair.

We should prepare for anothe injury crisis next Jan - because we can't let that happen again. But for our January, we'd be pushing for the title now, mad as it sounds.

Throw in the fact Klopp really pushes his players to the limit.

As for the Banks of four, you have to have the trickery to break them down. This is why I love seeing little Phil make such a difference in these games. Back in the day, smaller players were inconsequential.

As to your point Oncey, I look at Arsenal, and wonder why they play open against us. It's not going to end well for them.

In 'the world of football' - whatever the fuck that is - more fans would know about Partizan Belgrade vs Red Star?

Would. They. Fuck.

2 attacking midfielders, 2 strikers (Sturridge leaving), 1 CB, 1 CM (holding), and a "Great" keeper. Maybe a replacement for Moreno?

Ming has been doing great, and finally come good, but who knows for the future - we can do better, and we would catch a tidy fee for him now. Plus Karius is not decent backup

Yeah, sorry. Arsenal - Spurs is the greatest ever. Football doesnt excist outside of "Landan".

A load of Serbian lunatics fighting, stabbing eachother and letting off flares in a rivalry that is entirely political.

Who gives a fuck

Good win..Migs with another important late save.

Overall a pretty dull game with not much happening.

Oh and Moreno should have his contract terminated tomorrow.
Btw Moreno won the ball when it mattered as already mentioned in the match thread. That's got to count for something, probably won us the match too.

True, he won the ball, but what followed sums him up as a player. I mean, he didn't just ignore the obvious pass(es) and shoot instead, he curled it! If you're going to play like a schoolkid, then shoot like one - straight and simple!

The fact that he didnt keep his cool and pass it to Can, just sums up the fact that he's not very bright, and an awful footballer.

Fucking hell guys. It was ok the dying moments of an intens game and he was just thrown at the deep end of it. If he was a cool guy he would play more. He won the ball as a proper defender and finished the attack as one as well. Noone is having a go at the captain for finishing like a school kid earlier so leave Moreno alone for his miss.

Milner didnt have the entire WBA half to run through and 1-2 teammates with an open goal infront of them. Big difference.

If WBA had scored in the next attack, well, not much more to say.
