Echo reporting that we're certainly interested, but that Arsenal are likely to prefer selling him to Chelsea.

Does anyone even want him here?

Must mean Kent is going out on loan. Maybe to Leipzig? They've sold Burke and maybe we are offering a sweetener for any Keita deal now rather than next summer? Wishful thinking I know

Why is that ? - clearly an admission by them that they see Chelsea as a superior team.

[article]Liverpool have made a huge push to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from under Chelsea's noses.

Mirror Sport understands that Liverpool are rivalling Chelsea to get Oxlade-Chamberlain after the Arsenal midfielder turned down a new contract offer worth £180,000-a-week.

Arsenal are now set to sell before Thursday's transfer deadline if a club bids over £35million rather than lose him for nothing next year.

It means with the ongoing transfer tug-of-war that Arsenal are likely to pull Oxlade-Chamberlain out of the starting XI to face Liverpool on Sunday.

Chelsea had appeared to be in pole position and have already had a bid turned down but were confident of landing him for £35m.

But Liverpool are now firmly in the frame although Arsenal do have history with them from the fall out over the botched Luis Suarez transfer in 2013.

It might be a more complicated deal as Arsenal have good relations with Chelsea but Oxlade-Chamberlain's team mates think he is more likely to go to Liverpool.

Wenger has insisted publicly that he does not want to sell but Oxlade-Chamberlain has told him face-to-face that he believes a move would be best for his career and development.

It now looks as if Oxlade-Chamberlain will now be sold rather than let him run down his contract, although Arsenal have yet to receive a bid which comes close to tempting them to sell.

Wenger is likely to play Sead Kolasinac at wing back at Liverpool on Sunday, especially with fit-again Alexis Sanchez set to return to the starting line-up on the left. That would be a convenient excuse while the club try and resolve the issue.

They have also yet to receive a formal bid for Sanchez from Manchester City and yet it would take a huge offer to tempt them to sell in the final week of the window.

Watford have finally come in for Kieran Gibbs and are close to agreeing a £7m deal for the left back.

Shkodran Mustafi is another likely departure even though him leaving is a surprise.

Mirror Sport understands that Arsenal will sell if they can get their money back on Mustafi after signing him for £34m from Valencia last summer.

Inter Milan and Juventus have expressed an interest. Inter want to do a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer.

Despite potentially clearing the decks, it is unlikely that Arsenal will have any more incomings. They are long time admirers of Vigil van Dijk but Southampton are refusing to sell.[/article]

I like Ox - but I have an issue with his injury record. Given the way Klopp gets our team to play - bit worried that this guy is going to be out injured for longer/more frequently than what his Arsenal injury record is. Not sure we will get maximum value for money from signing this guy.

He was fucking bollocks in the midfield last season every time I wasched arsenal.

Like abysmally bad , like he was against Scotland for England.

Young, reasonably talented and fairly versatile but I'm Not sure about this one

Nahh, Kent is going to Hannover. They're rumoured to be signing Kevin Kampl as Burke replacement.

35 million pounds for someone in the last year of their contract seems pretty high, but then again, everything seems a bit high these days

[article]The versatile midfielder has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, but Winterburn believes it is essential the club keep hold of him after excelling in his new role.

"I absolutely say he's a player that has made massive strides in the last season," Winterburn told Premier League Daily. "At wing-back, I would put him as Arsenal's outstanding player.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has completed the full 90 minutes in each of Arsenal's two Premier League games this season, operating at wing-back in Arsene Wenger's new 3-4-3 formation, despite starting just 17 league games in the 2016-17 campaign.

"From the end of last season through to the start of this season I rate him that highly. Is that a position that he wants to play regularly though? Does he want to play in centre midfield or a more advanced area in behind a main striker?[/article]

Played LWB vs Leicester and RWB vs Stoke. The new James Milner? :p Where will his best/usual position be if signed?

Arsenal are unlikely to sell to us because we rebuffed their pathetic Suarez bid? Quite small time if true, probably not though, most likely reason for them is because we are probably a bigger treat for top four than Chelsea, or rather were more likely to fall out than Chelsea.

Would be happy to sign him though, initially not keen on the idea of £35million, but what the fuck is £35million these days.

Chelsea did 'do them a favour' in the Cech deal when Abramovich gave the go-ahead despite Mourinho's disagreement.
Cech thanks Abramovich from the 'bottom of my heart' - Telegraph

35m and 180k/pw is too much IMO, even if he is a decent player. Is he really an upgrade for our starting line up? Or Just another depth player? I've said before his versatility makes him possibly the new Milner, but is that worth 35m?

He'll do a job in CM if needed but I've generally been more impressed with him when he's played wide, whether wide MF or (more recently) wing-back, not least because he's pretty pacy.

Who's arsed about the money? We're told there's zillions of it. We need more good players asap.

Just as it seems like Wenger is ready to give him regular football, he apparently feels that his development will be better served elsewhere. Don't really see an opening in starting XI at either Liverpool or Chelsea for him at this moment. Hmm..LB/LWB at LFC?

A player that can play RM/LM/RWB/LWB and CM.. yes! Gives us great depth, is young and with the right coaching can be a quality player. Hope we pull this off.

I don't blame him for not trusting Wenger any more to give him a regular first team spot. More than once while he's been there he seemed to me to have earned one, only to be dropped fairly soon afterwards. Ironically he's yet another player we looked at when he was originally with Southampton!

Currently I'd slot him in at LB.

We'll not sign him, we'll not sign anyone. This transfer window has been shameful. Klopp needs to get his head out of his ass.

I think the doubters might be pleasantly surprised by him and the versatility is very handy.

According to some Arsenal fans I know say that he's been absolutely wank every time he's been played at CM.

No fucking way he's being made the best paid player at the club. Arsenal offered him 180G a week? My hole they did.

They'd know better than I would, and I haven't often seen him play there for them, but - strangely perhaps - he's done quite well in centre mid for England before now.

He was brilliant in one champions league game there a few years ago. Maybe against AC milan?
