McGregor vs Mayweather

Here are just some of the spectacular things McGregor is capable of doing on his feet, per ESPN’s recent Sports Science breakdown (shown above):

- McGregor’s punch packs an astounding 850 pounds of force

- McGregor’s left hand is equivalent to a 10-pound sledgehammer being swung at 20 mph

- McGregor propels himself into targets with as much rotational velocity (582 degrees) as a MLB pitcher throwing a fastball (500 degrees)

Anyone who has driven through Glen of the Downs will recognise this wall

Conor has never ever faced anything like Floyd. Floyd is an elusive, defensive, counter boxer. He's never been interested in 'fighting', he's spent his life boring the shit out of people by throwing out a weak jab and then running off and swerving, slipping and sliding anything that is thrown at him. All bar one of Conor's fight have been against people that are happy to stand infront of him and let him unload, Diaz being the only one that didn't, and can actually 'box' a bit. Conor struggled with him in the first fight, and was knackered by the end of their 2nd 5 round fight. He's going to have to put up with the horrible style of mayweather refusing to engage, and peppering him with weak shots, and him being happy to take Conor into deep deep water in the later rounds, where Conor will most likely be dead on his feet.
Conor has a punchers chance to win this fight, IF he lands on Floyd, cleanly, I just can not see Floyd being able to take that power, I just can't. He's never been hit cleanly with that amount of power in life, and Conor has put people away before with iron chins. Problem is, Floyd has never been landed on in his entire life for a reason, and he's had to deal with fighters with much better accuracy, timing and precision than Conor, maybe even more power too.

For me this is a fighter vs a boxer, 2 similar but also very different sports.

I can't stand either, and a double ko would be best, but I would like to highlight the fact that Conor is a utd fan.......

Isn't he a Liverpool fan?

Isn't he a Liverpool fan?

He said a couple of years back he wasn't really a footy fan, but everyone in Ireland supports Liverpool or Utd & if forced to choose he'd pick Utd cos of Ronaldo.

When in Liverpool he told everyone who asked he supported Liverpool & hated Everton though.

So fuck knows.

McGregor weighs in at 53, Mayweather at 49.5.

Conor says afterwards that he'll be about 70 when he steps into the ring tomorrow.

McGregor looked like he's been on the beak all afternoon. The heavier man at 154 to Mayweathers 149.

It won't go further than the 6th round. Mayweather has to knock him out to just save face. Imagine if McGregor drops him just the once. His "dynasty" would be fucked.

He's gonna be way heavier by tomorrow. Floyd's weight pretty much confirms he ain't going forward for shit, catch me if you can. The guy really doesn't give a shit about boxing lol

Mayweather's power was clocked at 814 pounds.

Golovkin's was measured at 2159!

Similar to Nate Diaz then, who almost knocked McGregor out first time around

All the more reason to make sure it goes the distance !

I can't see that happening. McGregor just won't have the stamina.
No, I meant from Mayweathers perspective. Obv McGregor won't get beyond the 6/7/8th round and if he does , it'll just be prolonging the inevitable

But if Mayweather can't land punches cable of taking McGregor out, and McGregor can't land punches on Mayweather, isn't the clear favourite result a distance decision? In which case Mayweather is the strong favourite, but McGregor at 28/1 seems good value, just in case it goes weird.

Where is McGregor 28/1 ?

He's 7/2 on Paddy Power and apparently
93% of the money in Vegas is for McGregor. I'd imagine thats because he's the fun bet rather than he has a great chance.

Mayweather is unlikely to come up with an immediate one-punch knockout, but the accumulation of his punches can bring an opponent to the point where one more becomes the straw that breaks the camel's back, and McGregor won't have had to take that kind of sustained peppering before.

Yeah he probs will, and the bookies agree. I was just looking for value in a bet.

I think Mayweather will kill him with body shots, and it will be effectively over, by the 8th. All the hype and circus acts have been fun, but reality will hit home by the time the first bell rings.

This is going to look like Mayweather-Gatti, where he walked him down eventually and the corner had to save Gatti from further punishment.

Agree with almost all of that, except for the specific round in which it ends. I don't see McGregor lasting 8 rounds - I'm expecting it to be over by the end of round 6.

The more i look at it logically the more i agree with the above. Mayweather should stop him.

But the gut says McGregor!

Anyone else watching the fights tonight? The boxers in the room at my house are 100% for Mayweather. Everyone else thinks MacGregor has at least a shot at winning. I'm just trying to stay awake...
