Nail your colours to the mast - who should we buy to replace Mascherano?

Parker seems to have suddenly become very popular on these boards, but at 30 years old and at £10M+, I can't see the board biting.

Javi Martinez is my man, although Defour mildly interests me - this is mainly because Fergie rates him very highly so I'm inclined to think there's something there.

Defour x 4

Heh, Free Running Parkour

I want ________, you know, that no one has heard of, so I can watch a couple you tube videos, say that I watched him a bunch of times when I lived in __________ , and say things like, he's more like _________ but a bit more physical, or, he's a bit like ________ but with _________'s vision. I'm really excited to see him in a Liverpool shirt! Mark my words.

Defour would be an excellent signing. He's young and the fee wouldn't be too high. Ditto Banega but I haven't seen him play an awful lot. Would anyone pay £10mil for Parker? Has anyone ever paid £10 mil for Parker? I like him but too pricey for his age.

if we replace him, whoever it is will be a step backwards and weaken the side. it'd make more sense to forget about him and get an attacking player instead. that at least has a chance of improving the team

We still need a holding player, it'd be ridiculous not to. No one is saying it has to be someone out and out defensive (like Masher), but we need someone who can cover the back four and track back, the suggestion throughout is that what we might sacrifice in defensive quality, we might gain in a bit more of a rounded midfielder (like Parker).

And play Lucas as first choice Dm, Dantes?
I like Lucas more than most on here but that's suicidal.

I think Dantes plays too much Footy Manager. Either that or he's Kevin Keegan.

No more useless cunts from Serie A thankyou please

DE4

That's who it *must* be
I havnt seen him play. Out of those i have id stick with the Serie A cunts. Being as we wouldnt get Busquets.

Have we ever had a success from serie a? Not saying he wouldn't be, its a genuine question.

And Ian Rush doesn't count.
Dont think so. But then that rules out France too i would think. And Argentina and Brazil.
In fact it gives us Spain and Scandinavia to choose from.
But Cambiasso also won titles in Spain so i think he still counts?
I dunno ask brendan, he made the criteria.

Anyone but Parker, his legs are far to short for someone with a head that big. L.Diarra would do.

Diarra has a huge head. He's no Mikel Silvestre though.

What, no Christian Poulsen or Gilberto Silva?

I haven't seen Defour in ages so I won't pick him...

Cattermole would be my choice if the fee is in line with what he's worth.

If we're gonna nab anyone from W'Ham I quite like the look of Jack Collison, not for Mascher obv, but another British youngster deffo worth picking up if at all possible.

I'd take Melo.
I've been impressed by how Catermole has progressed, but I'm not sure is ready to take to be playing in a hope 4 challenging team yet.

Yup.

I'll stick my colours to the mast with Defour but I'm going to admit up front that I've seen maybe two games in which he played and can barely remember them. I've just decided arbitrarily that we should get him.

If West Ham want 20 M GBP for Parker (as I have heard) they can do one. Or two.

I think Cambiasso could be interesting. Definitely a world better than Mun-fucking-tari.

I'd swap Lucas + Mascherano for Cambiasso+Muntari+ 20 m. Howzat?

We should make Lucas and Mascherano a job lot type thing. All or nothing.
