I'll settle for that, bit boring between the subs and 80 mins though, could've done better :-D

WTF happened to Sevilla? Did they go down to 9 men or something? Spartak were utter shite against us. A good result for us in terms of finishing first, but not so good in terms of qualifying early.

Had the same thought. He should do this more often.

Reckon he will have plenty of chances to in future. Don't think he will stay as a right-back for too long. He's showing more composure for the central midfielder slot than Ox is at the moment.

They had 62% possession, 16 shots on goal compared to 13 for Moscow. Just one of those Liverpool-esque days.

Ox looks totally lost at the moment, despite the goal – if he doesn't improve soon, I'm afraid it's going to be back to the WB role for him as he's hardly proving himself capable as wing-forward or CM.

Clearly they didn't defend the counter attack potential of Spartak as well as we did in the last game.

We'll have to be wary of that when we play them at Anfield again.

It's going to take time and a lot more clueless looking displays to untrain his bad habit. I don't think we can judge guy until he gets a good pre-season behind him (I see the next is a World Cup year, urgh).

Loved Milners performance today. Maybe the opposition made it a bit easier for our players but Milner seems to be the solution for our static midfield. I'd start him against Spurs. Third spot is between Wijnaldum and Henderson atm.

Unfortunately that won't happen but I'd agree , he is so much more progressive than the other three.

Can was balls, I'd sack him off for milner , if anyone deserves some bench time, it's him. Hendos Duracell bunny routine will come In handy against Spurs

Have second look at Alexander-Arnold's goal.
Did you notice how he positioned himself before the pass, controlled the ball with one touch and how he hit it?
That's not a defender, that's a midfielder.

I was disappointed with this result. I felt the players could have done better. (sorry - just doing my impression of the SCM les miserables group)

Some result, regardlsss of how shite they were its not only our biggest away win it's the biggest of any English team in the CL.

Not bad without our 1st choice

GK
RB
LW
CM (captain)

You're hardly the first to say it mate, a fair few people within the club have said the same thing, he's not playing in the position he'll end up in.

However, he's not ready to play in midfield regularly yet, he's not Steven Gerrard, & he had much more accomplished players protecting & covering him from the front & behind to mitigate the issues having a young midfielder causes, when he was bedded in, & that wasn't seamless, despite his immense talent, aggression (which TAA doesn't have the same level of) & immediate impact.

Controlled aggression is something Trent has, which is a bonus.

We've yet to see someone to get under his skin

Besides, it's moronic to say the way someone shapes up to shoot means they're an obvious midfielder. You may aswell have drawn the same conclusion from Agger's goal against West Ham, Riise's goal against Newcastle, Hyypia's goal against Juve, etc.
It's a stupid point.

I don't get the obsession with people wanting to move TAA into midfield.
Because it's his natural position?

If hes more than capable at full back at this age, then he could be fucking majestic in midfield
