Ludicrous Rumours

Mmm.. not so sure about your valuations there mate. We'll see but I doubt they'd even contemplate selling Eriksen for anything but an offer way North of £50M.

One thing is the money, they are nice to have, another is, who should they get in instead? Eriksen is topping all of the charts in Europe when it comes to assists, creating chances and distance covered (for forward players). He's only recently turned 25-years-old and as such has got his finest years ahead of him still.

If however you are right we should defo chip in with a cheeky £40M offer.

wink wink

Eriksen has a perfect system set up for him ... and he's excelling within it. I don't think he's worth more than 40 million - but I don't think Coutinho is either, and he's been linked with Barcelona.

He won't stay long term at Spurs though - so time will tell who's valuation is closer to reality! :)

Kyle Walker would be a risk for them. He might be the kind of player they're looking for, but I'm far from convinced he's the kind of individual who'll take to playing abroad.

Probably belong in here.

Mirror reporting that Barcelona has singled out Christian Eriksen as their top target for the Summer as the one they want to 'feed' Messi, Suarez and Neymar with chances next season.

I don't see Spurs sell at this stage on the other hand if the money on offer enters Bale territory then Levy would have a hard time saying 'no thanks'.

Personally I think, and I am of course biased because I reckon he's the bees knees, that he's probably the player they'd struggle the most to replace in their current setup despite having the phenomenal Alli and Kane in there as well.

What do you think, will Spurs cash in on one of their star players? Whether it'll be Eriksen, Alli or Kane? I doubt it.
Should be under fixing Barca thread.

Thanks

Isn't he supposedly the best player China has managed to secure so far ? Quality striker - I'll check to see how he's doing over here.

Reading the BBC gossip column each morning is an exercise in depressing, this was today's only gem about us :

Liverpool will [hl]not[/hl] be signing 23-year-old Bosnia defender Sead Kolasinac and Germany midfielders Max Meyer, 21, and Leon Goretzka, 22, from Schalke - according to the Bundesliga club's sporting director Christian Heidel, who worked with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp at Mainz. (RevierSport - in German)

Of course I cling to the belief that we are on the verge of signing super stars, just doing a great job at keeping it under wraps. Suarez is nailed on, in my world.[hl][/hl]

It's always the hope that kills you.

Echo reporting that Allan will probably stay at Hertha for one more season. The extra games they'll play next season may see him qualify for a work permit in 2018.

LFC conditionally sanction record £70m transfer for striker with more goals than Reds’ two leading scorers combined

Liverpool FC chiefs have promised manager Jurgen Klopp that they will back a £70m move for a star striker this summer on one condition.
The club’s record signing to date is still flop forward Andy Carroll, who had £35m spent on him when the Reds bought the Tyneside target man from Newcastle in January 2011.
However, CaughtOffside have learned that Liverpool are willing to pay Borussia Dortmund twice that figure to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Anfield, as long as they qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Aubameyang, 27, is ambitious and would be unlikely to consider a move to any side without Champions League football.
However, it is understood that he is keen for a new challenge after four seasons with Dortmund.
Liverpool’s hopes of securing the top-four finish they need to reach their European objective were dealt a blow on Sunday as they lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.
Many pundits blamed the Reds’ defensive frailty for the defeat, but the game also highlighted Liverpool’s lack of clinicality in attack.
Liverpool dominated possession and had 14 shots, but only found the net once courtesy of a long-range free kick.
Not since Luis Suarez departed in 2014 have Liverpool had a 20-goal-a-season striker.
Sadio Mane’s tally of 13 Premier League goals is the joint best any Reds forward has managed in the past three years.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang has scored 68 league goals in the last two-and-a-bit seasons, including 27 so far this term, which is more than Liverpool’s top two scorers – Mane and Roberto Firmino – combined.
Klopp is a huge fan of Aubameyang, having signed him for Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013.
As well as increasing the quality of Liverpool’s attack, Aubameyang would have no problem coping with Klopp’s pressing style of play, having become well accustomed to similar physical demands at Dortmund.

He has always said he wants to go to RM.

Yes, but will Madrid pay 70M for him? I think it's doubtful, they didn't shell out for Pogba and they actually needed a CM. Plus Aubameyang is a great player, but from Madrid's point of view he's not a "galactico" in the mould of Hazard or Bale. We'll see, but personally I don't think Madrid will be seriously interested this summer.

That would be a sexy signing.

And HES ON THE LIST

That's settled then.

Personally if we have 70M to spunk on a striker, my first choice would still be Mbappe, but I'll be happy with Aubameyang too. A striker in this mould is exactly what's needed to take our attack to the next level.

From James Pearce, the Echo;

Liverpool are prepared to shatter their transfer record to buy Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk this summer as competition for his signature hots up.

The Reds face a battle to secure the services of the Dutch centre-back but they haven’t been put off by the £50million price tag.

The previous biggest fee Liverpool have ever spent on a player was the £35million they paid Newcastle United for Andy Carroll in January 2011.

Arsenal have become the latest Premier League club to register their interest in Van Dijk. As well as Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton are also in the hunt.

Van Dijk is Jurgen Klopp’s top defensive target but the Reds boss knows the club must achieve Champions League qualification in order to have any hope of signing him.

Virgil van Dijk and Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool insist it won’t come down to money and they are prepared to make the 25-year-old defender one of the club’s highest wage earners. Saints, who bought Van Dijk from Celtic for £13million two years, are increasingly resigned to losing the Holland international.

Van Dijk, who has been sidelined since January with a foot injury, wants to play Champions League football and intends to weigh up his options in the summer.

Would FSG pay 70 mill for a 27 year old though? I'd love to sign him mind.

I don't want van dijk

Good player, but 50m and from Southampton

It's got Lovren MK II all over it

Tah is very much unproven. I wouldn't mind getting him, but it depends on what we want – if we want a player who will improve our starting CB pairing right away, then I'm afraid there is not much alternative to spending 50M for Van Dijk. I don't know another CB of the same class who is available and Premiership-proven (I know some people are going to scoff at that term, because of our past failures with players like Downing or Joe Cole, which has nothing to do with anything whatsoever. Simply put, defending in the EPL is, in fact, somewhat different from, say, Italy or Spain and it takes even the best players some time to adjust – Van Dijk has already made this adjustment). Someone like Tah would be a good purchase if we were happy with the 2 main CBs and wanted to add a talented young defender to gradually grow into the team and the league.
