The most heartening aspect of our win against Napoli was how Klopp was not averse to reverting to the rare use of last season's gegenpressing to completely overwhelm Napoli, this may have come as a tactical surprise to Ancelotti.

We now have a multiple choice of tactical approaches that we can use depending on the situation and opposition.

Interesting comments on our tactical progression from Carra (read the article) :

That link doesn't work.
It's weird. I had to try it 3 or 4 times before it worked. Previously every time it said link doesn't exist.

I'm on it now though (check out the address box at the top) :

Precis on certain players from the article :

Fabinho
One of the personnel changes that could help to facilitate the change to what Klopp calls a 4-4-1-1 and others describe as a 4-2-3-1 is the signing of Fabinho.

Fabinho averages more tackles, interceptions, clearances and aerial duels than any other Liverpool midfielder this season. His average position in the Merseyside derby victory over Everton was significantly deeper than his fellow midfielders too.

Keita
“I think if you look at the performance of Keita against Burnley, he is going to make himself a mainstay of this team,” says Carragher. “The midfield that got the team to the final of the Champions League last season were fantastic but they are very similar players.

“Keita is a player who is capable of adding something different to this Liverpool team. Maybe not so much with a pass, although he can do that, but with his running with the ball. He can penetrate in possession and add something different to that midfield.”

Keita is another weapon with which Liverpool can break down deep-lying defences which is important given that teams are making it harder for them to counter-press this season.
Liverpool ranked second in the Premier League for the number of times that they won possession in the attacking third last season. This year they are down from second to fourth. Teams are making it more difficult for Liverpool to get the ball off them in dangerous areas.
“A lot of teams saw that we were good at that and realised they were overplaying,” Klopp explained in a recent interview with Sky Sports. “It means that now we have to control more games. We have to keep the ball, especially against counter-attacking sides.

Id start Keita against Utd, hes the only midfielder we have who can carry the ball forward and commit defenders. Thats important against a Mourinho defence, you need to have players who can break through the lines.

Shaq though

I prefer Shaq as part of the forward line up. I dont think he tracks back enough tonplay in midfield, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many blocks and tackles Keita puts in
