Keepers

He's owned it

Balls of fucking steel

How many times have we seen "we'll do better" consolation messages from other players after a fuck up

He's owning it and that shows a strength of character that I didn't expect.

He takes that mentality to the pitch then this could be the making of him

There are bigger things in life, I think everyone was pretty angry with him during the game, but the humility he has shown, and the genuine regret.. he deserves huge respect.

Happy for him to stay and sit on the bench - maybe even play in the League Cup.

To be fair, there are nasty, idiotic people everywhere, it's more of a reflection of society. Most replies I've seen have been supportive and respectful.
And that’s good to hear. He’s an average keeper and it’s not his fault he couldn’t do any better.

Respect to him for owning up but at the end of the day he's not good enough and never will be. The sooner we replace him the better. He reminds me of Moreno. Yeah he'll have moments when you think he's ok but you just know he's gonna Fuck up at some point and you can never fully trust him.

Klopp is a stubborn person and will stick with karius to try and prove he has potential to be a great keeper one day . Unfortunately that one day will have cost the club greatly

He’s handled it like a man and deserves huge credit for that.

I just think that after something like this he needs a change of scenery where he can rebuild himself without this hanging over his head. For all our sakes.

What's your evidence of this? Is this something which dogged him at Dortmund?

There were warning signs in previous games which we knew deep inside that it could cost us.

His punch versus City which resulted in a chalked out goal. The parry onto the post from Kolarov. The way he brought down Dzeko which was again chalked out due to offside. All of them were in isolation not that bad mistakes but when you look at it as a whole you see a not so good keeper. Good to great keepers don't make mistakes with such frequency.

I am respectful of the way he has handled it. But if any of us made such high profile mistakes in our jobs, we would be looking at new careers. He is 24 years old. I will be amazed if he develops the strong mentality needed to be an LFC keeper over a summer. Outside of the mentality, I also think he is not that good.

It would be criminal negligence on Klopp's and FSG's part to start with Karius next season. Do you think a goalkeeper with such performance in a final would be considered for a starting role next season at Bayern, Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, United?

The one minor positive of the result is that it should highlight to FSG where our weaknesses are. @Farkmaster highlighted that perfectly in a post on another thread. We should stop feeling sorry for ourselves and do what it takes to address these issues.

I think Mignolet is fundamentally a much better keeper than Karius. Karius is quicker off the line, and better with his feet, but Mignolet's better at pretty much everything else.

It's clear obviously that neither has the mentality to be a top level keeper though.

I think Karius is better at dealing with high balls/ crosses while Mignolet is a better shot stopper.

You can see how Karius suits our game better though. He kicks better, distributes faster and is much quicker off his line.

However both have regular mistakes in them and so both are not good enough at this level.

Oh how short the memory is...

Ming vs Arsenal Xhaka.
Exact same fuck up as Karius last night.

Exact!!

Oh hello goal keeping coach!!!
