Is Sterling making the leap ?

The option of keeping him was taken away from us but 49M or whatever is increasingly looking cheap.

I did say...

I don't know. You can argue we got Firmino for him with change to spare towards most of what we paid for Mane. Both of whom have been great signings. Say what we want about Firmino's goal tally, but he's made a heavy contribution to how well we play in attack and we've edged closer to the quality we got from the Suarez/Sturridge/Sterling front line, with the Mane/Firmino/Salah strike force. It doesn't look far off it anyway, this season.

Its mad that Sterling is still only 23.

Excactly - and he is fucked (@darkstarexodus ) already. Small skinny fuckers like him only have a few years in them before they fade away - he may have a brilliant year but that will be it. Also mentally we know he cannot cut it and he is under severe pressure at City to perform in every game - its tiring, its draining - he don't have the lungs for this sort of thing. I tell you the boy is fucked - no one ever leaves us like a strop and don't experience the Liverpool FC curse.

He's got a bit more in the tank than this year, I'm afraid. A bit more sticking power than Shaun Wright Phillips. Do I expect him to be a star well into his 30s? No. But he may continue to progress further yet and even if he maintains his current level for another year or two, City has done well

He’s a great player. I wish we still had him.

Hi Gene cc @darkstarexodus

He will lose his place soon in the team - am glad we got 49M for him. Well worth it - also I hate him for leaving the way he did - I cannot forgive players that are in their prime and leave for a domestic rival. I could just about forgive players leaving for a foreign club that at least has a larger stadium than ours but domestically to another club in this country - it is something I will never never never accept as a reason. The trouble with the players these days is that they will not work for success - they expect it. He is finding out that it is much harder - I think within two months he will be dropped soon.

Kind Regards,
MORON

His weakness is decision making and for that he still has a ways to go before. He always had a good shot on him it was good desion making which let him down on his overall play.

Just kidding. Sickened looking back now and if klopp was around he may have stayed. It took guardiola to get him where he is, don't think Pellegrino was ever going to get it out of him which was the option he had at the time. I think that city forward line towards the end of last season with him and sane in it looked outrageous and pep seems to like it this year as well. Saying that, where we are currently I don't think he'd add much more than we have but for any of the English lads here he must give you a great option for Russia.

I'd probably swap him for Coutinho, we'd get more value out of the cunt than the other cunt over the next 6 months.

Now Sterling's passing and shooting have improved so much under Guardiola, I would say that he is at least equal to Mané or Salah.

However I wouldn't swap because I just don't like him very much. He never showed a trace of loyalty to the club that fostered his talents.

I can't understand some of the attitudes and opinions about Sterling on here - I found it bizarre at the time and even more so now.

The idea that a player who broke through at 18 to play as a left forward, right forward, no.10 and a false 9 somehow lacked football intelligence and basic skills up until very recently is absurd.

The thing that struck me about him early on was that his passing, technique and awareness were excellent - he didn't look out of place alongside Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho. Then when others began to fall away he pretty much had to lead the side which he did quite well for a while before it all became too much. Though yes, his finishing needed work.

Everybody said the'd end up rotting on City's bench but up against some pretty tough competition he's been in the team far more than not and is a key match winner.

His departure left a bad taste in the mouth for a number of reasons and I'd have preferred to see him fall flat on his face (along with City in general) but fair is fair, the guy is a fantastic talent.

In terms of Salah and Mane, they're both amazing and I'm grateful we have them. In an ideal world, we'd have all three. Top clubs keep their best players and add to them instead of constantly worrying about replacing those who depart.

True ... that was harsh on QPR

I’m happy with Mane and Salah but I would love to also have Sterling.

I’d rather have him than Oxlade Chamberlain for example and almost any of our other players.

Still think he's average, just lucky to be playing in a team that puts chances on a plate for him. Let's see how phenomenal he is for England when he's running like a little Thunderbird puppet down a blind alley.

If we judged players by how they perform for England then we’d have to conclude it’s all been shite since Linekar.
