I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

Agree with FFF. There's obviously wiggle room and now RBL have let the cat out of the bag. £60m for a young top quality midfielder that could cement a place in a title winning side for the next 7-8 years ? Yes please.

Yeah, another thing to note is the impact. As good as it'll be to have another pacy option upfront, signing a defensively minded mf player is the closest we'll get to an out & out dm & will make a bigger difference to the overall side than any other position imo.

Let's move on, he is not worth that much. Ruben Neves of Porto €35m for an Alonso type player.

No offense to Alonso or an "Alonso type player", but we have too many 1 paced and good passing midfielders already. In fact all of them bar Can seems to have only 1 gear.

We need some dynamism.

Naby looks like Kante on drugs from the highlight clips I have seen.

Buy buy buy!

Nah, that'll do for me that.

He's Klopp's first choice, he suits our style of play (at least on paper), & he's better than what we have in that position.

60m for a first team player isn't so much in this summer market.

That's the key thing here as far as I'm concerned. I don't care anymore how much we spend - it's out of control and ridiculous and has contributed to my liking football less these days, but I really want Klopp to get the players he wants this summer. I'm fed up with having to end up with 2nd or 3rd targets at best.

Every major signing we've made recently has been a second choice target, and that includes Mane and Salah.

Yes yes yes.

Firstly , €80 would be £70m

I have no idea how good he is but for £70m I'd expect him to make one hell of an impact on the side , is he that good?

Who's place in the starting eleven does he take ?

Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg are not for sale this summer, however both have €57m release clauses next summer. (Kicker)

Naby Keita wants to stay another year in Leipzig, but doesn't want to sign a new contract at the moment. (Bild)

He would go straight into midfield, ahead of everyone else.

I should point out that Keita is likely to be this window's Konoplylanka, or Simao, or whichever long-running "will he/ won't he?" transfer target.

He isn't he going to join, and we can forget any top quality striker signing too.

And we can therefore Top 4, because we need both a dynamic, destructive DM and a striker and we're getting neither.

We shouldnt even bother entering the CL and PL next season then. Good to know that in June.

Outside of a striker 60m is daft for 90% of first team players!!

Highlight clips make Downing look like a world beater

Considering Pogba went for £90 mill and his level of performance so far, what does that make this guy worth?

Pogba left United and won four Serie A titles on the bounce at Juventus, was named in the Serie A team of the year three times, won Best Young Player, and was also in the UEFA team of the year and FIFA team of the year in 2015.

Keita has played one season in the Bundelsiga and scored 6 goals.

It's a fucking travesty that Keita's price tag is anywhere fucking NEAR that of Paul Pogba.

Exactly, I'm all for buying potential game changers but this talk of him being worth 60m is frankly nuts.

He's done fuck all in football. Fucking Michu was a world beater for one season.

The £60M figure is simply reflecting todays market where average to decent players go for nearly £30M.

Keita was a £30M player in last years market and probably a £60M in todays. It's all a bit silly really but I don't think he'll go for anything less should he even be allowed to leave.

I have a horrible feeling that "mom" was trying to claim Keita's price-tag is actually quite reasonable given how much Pogba cost United.

So I gleefully tore him a new one.

Pat, player fees have gone up pretty rapidly in the last two seasons for a number of reasons.

We have the cash, & despite the fact we've tried to keep it under wraps, if we as fans can see we've made a net profit in the last three windows whilst we've had record TV rights money, record profits off the pitch, & now have CL money coming in as well then you can be damn sure the selling clubs know that & more.

So yeah, we'll pay a bit more than some other clubs, in the same way City, Chelsea, Utd etc pay more cos people know they have money.

This lad is Klopp's first choice. I'm sick & tired of us settling for second or third choice players & then watching us continually thinking 'a little bit more quality & we could have won this'.

We are not some two-bit piss ant mid-tier fucking club, we are Liverpool Football Club & we have always spent big to get the best players we could afford, which led to trophies, over the last decade or so that has changed. If paying over the odds is what it takes to get us our first choice players & stand a better chance of winning shiny things again then I'm all for it.

Yes, I do agree with all of this. But I still don't think we're going to get Keita. And that makes me a bit sad.

I'm not sure, money talks, & I doubt we'd be getting German sources quoting figures they'd sell for if there was no chance they would let him go.

We are also in debt and this lad has done well for 1 season. I'm just not sure at all that he is the answer, certainly not for 60m+.

What's the point in record money if we overspend on everyone.

I saw a horrible stat today that we are the 3rd team to spend 1b in the last 20 years and the only side not to win a title in that time.

We have always spent just not always wisely

I don't think anyone doubts the last sentence, Dreamy.

But what more can we do except try and deliver what Klopp wants? If he wants to pay a squillion Euros for Keita, then pay it. At least that way there are fewer excuses readily available.

I agree to an extent but fuck me wanted Gini, what it Newcastle slapped a 50m price tag on him? There has to be a point where we say as a club that a player isn't worth what the selling club want.
If we get a reputation of paying whatever the asking price for Klopps main targets we'll be taken to school more so than we have in the past.

Not that I don't want this lad but at 60m I think it's a crazy gamble much like VVD at 70m, Fucking nuts and unlike Utd, City and Chelsea we don't have bottomless pit of money, we are a club in debt

Wasn't Keita rushed to the hospital for a heart condition of some sort earlier this year? That'd be my main concern regarding this intended swoop.
