FSG decided it is time to win the whole fucking thing?

So Big Virge; Keita; Fekir; talk of us trying for Dembele; talk of us in for Allison or Oblak.

If we hang onto what we've got and strengthen with this kind of quality, I think we have to say that FSG have woken up to the possibility that we can make the next step up and cement our place among the elite, and perhaps even win some shit. We've been acting like ninjas in the transfer market for a change, and credit to the team who are pushing this shit forward. Stadium expanded with more to come, elite players queuing up to play for us. This feels potentially very special. I'm excited.

I didn't say we're going to win the whole fucking thing, I said FSG decided to do so. BIG DIFFERENCE. Thereby avoiding all laws of jinxdom.

Yeah it is so unlike us. Usually I'd expect this to be offset by someone leaving to balance the books, but I can't see Salah or Mane leaving. Not yet anyway.

I don't think I can get excited until the transfer window shuts. We've already spent about 150M, and a keeper and a fat Swede might take us up to 200M so I'm still worried we might sell someone good....

This is great n all but I agree it has to be done if we want to be a fixture in the top 4 nevermind mounting a league challenge.

There's two Manchester clubs spending this already, Chelsea are capable and arsenal might just come out of their Wenger coma.

We've been punching somewhat along with spuds

I think that they have learnt how the PL works and also about trying to cut corners after selling your best player - especially the sale of Suarez and then getting a complete twat like Mario in expecting the same. But also make no mistake - it's what Klopp has bought to this team and his ability to make good players reach world class levels that has also helped.

On a negative note - I still don't think the purchases made thus far assuming Fekir, new Goalkeeper and Shaqiri are enough for us. We had no backup for the front men - and only three fit midfielders. But also in defense we had no cover if anything were to happen to VVD. So I still think we will need to sign a striker and a defender for more cover and I mean bench quality. I was hoping we may actually go for that Anderson Talisca but looks like United are going for him, and as for defensive cover was hoping we may look into WBA's Evans but he has been sold. What do you guys think ? - do we need more cover for up front and backline ? -

As for sales I would think maybe we will let Lallana, Ings, Sturridge, Origi, and Ming leave - but I seriously think that Grujic should be bought into the first team and I hope he really does well in the world cup if he gets his chance. He has all the attributes for physically imposing midfielder - so I would hope we give him games in the new season.

Midfield is gonna be stacked next season with Ox Keita Fabinho Hendo Wjinadum Milner and Grujic so I expect at least 2 of our current squad to move on.

Comparitvely we are alot lighter in the attacking positions even with the addition of Fekir. Its still a big drop in quality from the first choice 3.

It's evolution under Klopp and not revolution. We know from experience if you buy too many players they just don't gel. We're buying (maybe) 4 quality players and a squadie.
GK
Fabinho
Kieta
Fakir
Shaqiri/Moses

I don't think we need a CF or another defender. Klopp already refused to buy one of the best strikers in world football who then ended up at Arsenal. Saying that he did not have space for him.
In addition to Fekir, we also have Ox and possibly Shaqiri/Moses so there is enough cover up front. Lovren (as long he doesn't go prison) and Matip will be far more reliable next season because we will have a DM. GK hopefully will be sorted soon, as those that have been mentioned in the rumour mill (butland, oblak, leno, McCarthy and Allison) are all an improvement on Karius.

Shaqiri/Moses will cover the wide positions.

Fekir can play as a false 9 to cover Firmino. Especially when Ox is back.

We could also revert to a 4-2-3-1. I'd be happy with the window, if we make the signings above (quality GK).

Some may wish for another CB, but I think if Clyne is fit, Gomez is another option there if Matip/Lovren aren't up to it.

Yeah man, I woke up to read that apparently, we've agreed on a fee for that French attacker but maybe they are getting ahead of themselves. I have never seen him play but if he is as good as people keep saying he is that could be good.

It is exciting and although FSG are CONSIDERABLY better than HnG it is about time they caught on that they bought a massive club for fuck all money and we've got stuff in place to do things IF we can bring in a few more top players. I would also be happy if we signed that Shaquiri fella as well, he is pretty nifty and if Klopp can shake him up get him fitter a bit he would be a useful squaddie.

I would officially love FSG if they get Oblak as well, we would have a hell of a spine in that team...

But that would be huge money and I doubt their pockets are that deep but fingers crossed.

It is exciting times for us, with cash hanging over from the Coutinho sale and from our CL run we can probably buy big, IF FSG dig a bit deeper and really splash out we could challenge. As it is I Imagine with our opponents the way they are a team will need at least 90 points to have a chance of winning the league, City were sensational this season and will probably strengthen but at the same time, I do not see them gathering in 100 points again.

It is strange the way footy goes sometimes, our best performances this year came after we got smashed by Spurs when Lovren and Mig gifted them goals early doors in the first half.

Despite the points tally the semi Mancs on here and Spurs perverts I'm firmly of the belief that we were the second-best team last season. When City had good luck with super mega late winners we got dodgy late pens given against us and offside equalizers by our opponents. Results like that don't just count mathematically they count mentally too, on numerous occasions our team rolled into games after games under stress thinking that they weren't that good and whinging from the crowd filtering down via social media...

OOOH we should have bought VVD in summer, OOH Lovren is shit etc... That must take a toll on their spirits.

What am I saying here! I'm half asleep forgive me.

In the profound engraved and possibly permanent misery of the CL final not many people mentioned it but, Lovren showed just how fucking good he can play, on the biggest stage there is, he stepped up and played really well. Imagine being Lovren? Ah you are shit la... we need a new defender... constant shit flying at him... and what does he do? He steps up and basically contained Christiano Ronaldo.

In terms of "luck" last year all, we mainly got dealt lots of bad luck at the same time City where handed goals in the 98th minute of a game where there should only have been 96 minutes.

City are better than us, there is no denying that, but when we were pussyfooting around thinking we weren't good enough and hearing that drift through on the vibes at the club at the start of the season City just kept on winning. This time around we might just push em... I hope we spend big... i'm buzzing.

Do we still count Keita from this years budget ?

Do we still count Keita from this years budget ?
I imagine they will have tried to engineer it so that it figures in last years accounts for the purpose of FFP or at least the fees were agreed last summer but then again don't the rules of FFP role over a number of years purchasing anyway?

I dunno.

Whichever way you cut it I think we are looking good;

Out:

Andre Wisdom – Derby County – £2m
Ryan Fulton – Hamilton Academical – Undisclosed
Lucas Leiva – Lazio – £5m
Kevin StewartHull City – £4m
Mamadou Sakho – Crystal Palace – £26m
Sam Hart – Blackburn Rovers – Undisclosed
Philippe Coutinho – Barcelona – £142m
Cameron Brannagan – Oxford United – £200k
Received: £179.2m

and In:

Mohamed Salah – Roma – £36.9m
Dominic SolankeChelsea – Tribunal fee TBD
Andrew RobertsonHull City – £8m
Alex Oxlade-ChamberlainArsenal – £35m
Virgil van DijkSouthampton – £75m
Spent: £154.9m + Tribunal TBD

So in terms of transfers that left us with roughly +25M ( - Solanke?) profit...

Keita 55M Fabinho 44M.... + who knows!

Profit from our cut of CL final run, which I think is about 70M, including bigger crowds etc for home games etc... we could be looking big...

It would be a fine time for FSG to invest heavily, should they be so inclined.

I like to think that this gif sums up our work in the transfer market lately, all other clubs are trying to look good to attract attention while Liverpool are just getting the job done.

A fat Swede? Shaqiri? He is from Switzerland which isn´t the same country as Sweden.

Were the cunts we always accuse City of being.

Feels good.

To be fairer, he mentions Sturridge.
I think you might be mildly confused Oliver.

Except replace I think with ‘you are’

And replace Mildly with ‘wildly’

And replace confused with ‘Autistic’

With options like Fekir, Keita & Ox in midfield i think that allows us the luxury of trying to rotate in someone like Woodburn or Wilson. It was much more of a risk with limited goal threat in the midfield three but with that changing I think we would see more bedding of a wide forward.

If we do all of this overhaul but stick with a keeper who rolls the ball to the opposition players and can't catch then we'll struggle to hold on to the squad for very long. For years and years we have let down our attackers who go to the effort of scoring 2 or 3 goals, just for our defence to crumble or for someone at the back to make a massive howler.
