In light of the Moreno/Klavan new contract rumours, who does everyone want shot of?

We're in the rather fortunate position of having no real divisive players (ok, Gini, Matip, Lallana maybe), generally our squad is in good shape but needs reinforcements, removal of the lingering deadwood and a few of the fringe players need a loan move to further their prospects.

This is what I'd go with for now, in terms of sales, loans and purchases:

    Sell:

    Mignolet
    Moreno
Can (not a sale, but he's gone)
    Sturridge
    Origi
    Markovic
    Possibly Matip

    Loan out:

Ings or Solanke - I'm guessing the former, I have a feeling Klopp might put a bit more faith in Solanke next season. Or both could go on loan, who knows?

Woodburn - Needs a loan move, if only to keep him happy, he's a quality player and needs to play.

Brewster - Rumours about a contract, other rumours about German interest. Is he too young to loan?

Feel free to add to this, I don't know nearly enough about our reserves these days.

    Buys:
A wing/versatile forward - We need back up for Mane/Salah, maybe Solanke will supplement Firmino a bit more next season. Basically what we lost with Coutinho, we need another quality attacker to push our current lot, provide another option and give us the must needed option of resting players.

Attacking midfield - I guess this is probably covered by Keita, depending on how he plays within the triangle of midfielders.

Deep midfield - It's been done to death, I guess we won't be getting an actual enforcer, but possibly a playmaker type. Where that leaves the current crop of Grujic (particularly), Henderson, Gini, Milner, Lallana and AOC is beyond me. I'd keep those last 5 or six, with maybe some movement for Grujic and possibly another.

Central Defense - We need another quality defender. None of the others after VVD are reliable enough, though Lovren can do a job. Sell one of Klavan or Matip.

Goalkeeper - I'm still largely unconvinced by Karius, Mignolet will go, so we need some quality addition who can hopefully oust or have a positive effect on Karius.

In terms of outs, I'd get shut of Moreno, Mignolet, Ings, while also loaning out players like Solanke, Woodburn etc. Can is gone.

I'd like to see Wilson and Ojo in and around the first team squad. Is there a promising young left back in the reserves?

I'd sign a top class keeper, if available, a cb to relegate Lovren to the bench, another cm, a dm, and a striker. I actually think Origi would be a decent upgrade on Solanke, so wouldn't be dead against him coming back into the fold. A decent winger to provide back up for Mane and Salah would be nice, too.

People don't even remember that Bogdan is still with us. Bog off, Bogdan.

I want a few of our best young players to stay in the senior squad and play a role next season. We have a very good generation who are now coming of age and should be tried and tested, in our system and style, rather than sent off again on loan. Wilson, Woodburn, Solanke, Grujic, Masterson and Curtis should all be regulars at Melwood. They're good, they're ours, they're pretty much ready. Try them and then either bed them in or sell them.

It's a great shame Brewster is probably going. He's precocious and would have made an impact for us next season, I feel sure about that.

    To get rid:

Marino, Ming, Bogdan, Markovic, Flanagan and (unless he suddenly looks great in pre-season) Origi.

I want Dybala....all else I don't care. It's important to improve on Coutinho.

We are ready to sign a world-class talent for top money. If not now, we will never do it.

Been done to death but it's not about the money it's about the talent. (See: Salah) We seem to have lots of cash but we don't have the clout to make a top player do a 'coutinho'. So who is available, and who fits?

Quite efficient to name all incoming players under the deadwood thread so that we can keep the thread till we want them out again Next summer.

I don't think it causes that much to keep a youth player on the books. If they go it's probably because the player doesn't think he'll develop with us.

Anyway, the squad is threadbare as it is so I hope we focus on buying before selling deadwood.

Well, when some have agents, and unscrupulous agents, the fact that FSG are insistent on incentive-linked contracts and wages, sadly but not unpredictably, it can have an impact, too. It's an admirable stand by FSG but when it's happening in a world in which some other clubs behave more in a 'sod it, just offer them what the hell they want and get them here,' then we'll lose some who, in purely football terms, ought to want to stay here.

Agree, but relegation fighting Southampton wasn't exactly the most difficult club to play silly beggars with

    Get rid of:

    Bogdan
    Ming
    Moreno
    Can
    Markovic
Lallana (last chance to get a decent fee for him I reckon)
    Sturridge
    Ings
    Origi
    Flannagan
    Randell

    Arrivals:

New GK. Who? The keeper on loan at newcastle has been very impressive.

New CB. Who? I haven't seen many names floating around.

New LB who? I'd go and get Sessengnon but it won't happen.

    Keita done.

Holding MF/playmaker. Neves looks perfect for this.

Attacking MF Pulisic, Meyer on free,  Fekir or Draxler perhaps.

Forward. Ideally Dembele, but he would cost something. He's going to be world class. Barca will sell though if they get Greizmann. Perhaps offer barca the first refusal on salah but include a release clause off 500m in his contract..

Obviously very fantasy football, but some of those are doable quite easily I reckon.
