How do you keep awake?
It happens to be a public holiday here tomorrow (1 Sep). :p

Was also watching the international matches. Thought it would have been worthwhile waiting for VVD's signing, tough luck.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - Northampton (Manager)

[article]Northampton Town Football Club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink as the club's new manager on a three year contract.

As a player, Hasselbaink scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the Netherlands, while at club level he played for a number of clubs including Leeds United, Athletico Madrid, Chelsea and Middlesbrough, scoring nearly 200 goals in 468 senior games.

Hasselbaink, who has a UEFA A licence, began his managerial career with Royal Antwerp in 2013, leading them to a 7th placed finish in the Belgian Second Division before turning down the offer of a new contract in order to work in England.

He was appointed the manager of Burton Albion in November 2014, with Albion 5th in League 2. He led them to the League 2 title in 2014/15 and guided the Brewers to the top of League 1 in November 2015 when he was appointed manager of Queens Park Rangers having recorded an fantastic 61% win ratio at the Pirelli Stadium.

Despite losing top scorer Charlie Austin soon after his arrival, Rangers achieved a 12th place finish in the 2015/16 Championship. He left Loftus Road the following November, and has an average win ratio of 45% in more than 100 games as a manager in England.

"Once we made the decision regarding the position last week we received a high number of applications. We had two targets that we wanted to speak to initially and following discussions with myself and then other members of the board, Jimmy became our top choice so we are pleased to be able to secure his services," said Chairman Kelvin Thomas.

"He is an inspirational leader, someone who has had success at this level in the recent past and we think he is a very good fit here.

"We have sought a lot of advice and have spoken to and taken on board feedback from people who have worked with Jimmy before and those who have played against his teams. He is a manager who injects confidence and belief into his players, and someone who we think can begin to unlock the potential of what we believe is a good squad we have here.

"We are delighted to have been able to make this appointment, and we now have two very important home games coming up, against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday and Portsmouth on Tuesday September 12th, and we look forward to seeing big crowds at both games to welcome Jimmy to Northampton and to support the team."

He will be introduced to the media in a news conference at Sixfields on Tuesday.[/article]
