Frankly quite surprised at the response from gkmacca. You are almost being apologetic for him. Is it because they are manc fans? No one would like it if he spat at Dreamy. So why is it ok at anyone else?

Personally I think its disgusting and he deserves the sack regardless if it was a 14 year old girl or 50 year old man. He was in his car, probably worth 6x as much as that fans. He should leave the window rolled up and drive on.

I agree with maccas point, that people want to push so far and then are shocked and appalled when they get the reaction

But he should know better the daft fucking cunt. He should get rightfully sacked, and then I'll see him in my bein streams

To an extent Fabio.. Carra went so far over the line though.

I don’t get the criticism of his punditry. That said, he should be sacked by Sky. Those defending him on here would be outraged if Neville had done this and then kept his job.

He can't keep his job. Imagine Sky being outraged next time a player spits. It's done.

I'm not apologetic about him spitting, but I've never any sympathy for someone who deliberately tries to get a reaction out of a public figure and then runs off crying when there's a reaction. This dickhead films it, laughs while it happens, then realises he can sell it and drag his daughter into it. Whether it's Prescott punching someone who throws an egg at him, or a similar reaction from someone else, they bring it on themselves. The daughter should be ashamed of her father.

How much stick did he actually hear? I can hear next to fuck all in my car with the windows up and radio on.

Isn't banter or winding people up what Carra does on MNF or Twitter habitually?
Should be able to take it.

They won't sack him. Kirsty Gallagher was recently done for drink driving and she's still there.

I like him as a pundit. The danger in losing him is that they go to those who have failed to make a name for themselves e.g. Chris Sutton rather than look for new blood.

Sutton is quite good on bt

Personally I couldn't stand Carra as a pundit. He was too intense even when discussing stuff that didn't merit any discussion, he spoke too much, too quickly. A good pundit can switch themselves down or up, but Carragher was always one level, screetching away. Neville gets wildly overrated IMHO but he's obviously better. Whether Carra would've improved is a pointless issue now as I doubt he'll get any work.

But I hate to see these engineered controversies. I'm just surprised they don't happen more often. It's like when managers get fans shouting the most foul abuse at them all game, and if the manager snaps and says something back, the 'fan' expresses outrage. They really have no idea how to behave, and they have no ability to appreciate the consequences of their actions. A while ago there was a story about some bloke who took his kid to the zoo and goaded an animal until it leapt at the glass and made his kid cry, then he wanted the animal put down. Symbolic for these infantile and self-obsessed times. Everyone wants everyone else to be made to honour their obligations whilst they remain a free rider.

It's a stupid reaction and he should lose his job over it, no question. But the faux outrage from Mancs and Evertonians all over social media is laughable, it's exactly the sort of reaction this stuff tries to get. Job done. Not only did we lose but we now have a representative of the club who's made us look like total bellends.

As for the driver, he won't get nearly the condemnation he deserves for doing this in front of his kid, you can hear a woman shouting "enough", so somewhere there was common sense being ignored. It's no different to a WUM on a forum, social media etc, trying to provoke a reaction by repeatedly goading it's focus of attention. Only this is in person and it's usually where the antagonist get's a smack and cries foul, or in this case get's pathetically spat at, and cries foul.

Spitting is such a despicable reaction, but I wonder had this happened in the street, had a man been walking with his family and repeatedly got in the face of a player, culminating in him getting sparked, I wonder what the reaction would be then?

Whatever's, it's a shitty end to a shitty weekend. The best way to beat this, is to go about our job and rise above the taunts and oneupmanship. It's maddening because they still think they've got the upperhand, and now they think they've got the moral high ground too. Now we have Mancs and Evertonians on social media with the standard "never your fault" jibes.

Chris Sutton is fucking dreadful.

I don't know what will happen to Carragher, but I'm a Liverpool fan and so is Carragher, and I quite like having a Liverpool legend like Carragher sticking up for us on telly and being a very obvious Liverpool fan.

I hope he doesn't lose his job over this. Even if he couldn't cry or moan if he did. The idiot.

I don't think he should lose his job, he didn't do it while performing his job nor representing his employer. Obviously he should know better. A suspension to show it's not acceptable behaviour would be enough.
