I think LFC supporters would be the only ones in the world that would prefer Salah over Messi. A player who’s scored more goals per most seasons than Salah’s best ever.
632 games, 552 goals and 212 assists.
45 goals in 53 games this season. Shit by his standards.

Pfft. Not impressed at all... curling a penalty to the corner after som greasy cheater falls to ground is something most people can do. Running like Benny Hill with a football while half of London is chasing you however.....

JM, I don't doubt that he's perhaps the greatest player ever. If this was Messi even 3 years ago there wouldn't be a conversation to be had. But I'm tremendously excited about Salah over the next few years. He's perfect for our team, he's humble and very much part of a team ethos. I just wouldn't swap him for anyone. Messi is 31 in a few weeks, and no matter how incredible his stats have been, and they are freakishly good, in the next 3 years I expect a massive drop off in his productivity and more debilitating injuries and niggles. Salah- well who knows? I see him as the big thing in European footy for the next several years.
Like Ronaldo's has ?

Messi and Ronaldo are not normal human beings / players. Messi doesn't rely on pace, like Ronaldo I don't see him dropping off a cliff. Another 3 years at his current level before the inevitable decline sets in.

Ronaldo (*allegedly*) is a drugs cheat. Whilst Messi doesn't rely exclusively on pace, pace does play a part, and even more so, extraordinary nimbleness and reaction speeds. These are things that are as likely to decline as pace. This is my opinion of course, but regardless, I wouldn't swap Salah for Messi.

Messi has been great this season in a waning Barca side that almost went through the league unbeaten. Salah is great, obviously, but if we had Messi instead of Salah next season, we'd probably win the league. Best player ever, and he's still performing at a ridiculously high level.

If we har Messi next year we would have to turn the way we play to suit him. I am.not sure he could win us the league alone and I am not sure who he should play instead of Even if he is good enough to replace 90% of our first 10 outfield players. Should we sacrifice one of the front 3? Or play like we did against Brighton which is fine for some games but not entire season?

He’s been part of some of the most lethal front threes in history. I think you need to watch him play.

Yeah I know. It was a genuin question. He is not coming and all that, but if uncle John sold Red Sox and spent all money on Messi... how would we best accomodate him?

So in this hypothetical world we keep Salah and buy Messi for 500m?
1. Much as I love him, Mane would have to be the one that loses his place.
2. Or we have two midfielders that concentrate 100% on defensive duties and we get Messi playing behind the front three. That would be so lethal. Basically a Coutinho replacement.

You clearly haven't given though to Messi replacing Lovren in central defense

Nah, Messi wouldn't win us the league. De Gea probably would, though.

We wouldn't win the league just by parachuting Messi into the team. He's not always won the league in a much less competitive league than ours. Salah is going to score 60 goals next season. AT FUCKING LEAST.

I assume as Dreamie you stick a 5000 bet on your prediction?? ;)

This is like one of the threads Woland posts on his laugh at other forums thing. Embarrrrrr........
Everybody in the solar system would swap Salah for Messi. Every fucking day of the year.
