Is this really worth an 8 match ban? That's what Oscar's been given and some fine (~5k euros, which I think earns every 49 minutes):

Yeah because he's a massive cunt.
Lucky he wasn't sent to Inner Mongolia to work in the mines for a month - that would have cured his acting. I've always said that fines should be linked to income rather than a fixed fee. A week's/month's salary would have hurt far more. He was a cunt though - so now he's learnt that this isn't the PL/FA and the CFA aren't such a soft touch.
Well, he's obviously being very aggressive but isn't he also 'only' kicking the ball around? If the ref has blown the whistle and he plays on like that, yeah then I'd also give him a lengthy ban but if he hasn't halted play already I am not sure I'd know what to do really.. as it's not exactly disallowed to kick the ball fiercely even if it's hitting an opponent.
In Handball for instance you'd get a direct Red Card if you throw the ball into someone's face.. not sure if there are any similar rules in football?

It was clearly aimed at the opponent - therefore it's assault with a weapon.
His theatrics are almost the worst part of it all, but I guess you can argue that the second kick of his is an ill-fated attempt at hurting an opponent with the ball. The first one not so much, he might kick it in frustration, but it's also still very much a fight for the ball..
