    Sobriety and Ting…

Hi all Thanks for the concern, it is much appreciated. An update from me. In May I moved in with my new woman. And although she enjoys her beer and wine, its nowhere near my normal levels. I've obviously been keen to make the right impression, so I've found myself tapering down my alcohol...

    Harvey Elliott

The signings of Szobo and MacAllister suggest Klopp may be slowly moving to a more fluid, attacking midfield, compared to the flat, hard working one we've been used to. I think Elliott could work as a midfielder in a 4-3-3, but it would have to be a Guardiola style system with lots of movement...

    Liverpool, Wataru upto?

Maybe Klopp rates Bajcetic really highly, and thinks he's the long term successor to the role, but needs a stop gap in the interim.

Any excitement for the new season?

Yea, agreed. I suppose in my case its a sense of apathy that's been long coming - mainly at what the game's become, City's dominance, the way money has ruined things, agents more powerful than ever, etc etc. Klopp just re-ignited the passion again.

Any excitement for the new season?

I was sort of losing interest in the game in general, until Klopp came in during 2015, and then I got really excited and into LFC support again. And then he went and gave us some of the best memories possible.I'm very annoyed that we have one of the best managers to grace the game in the last 50...

    Caice-d'oh!

Klopp's basically gone and said its done at the press conference. Would he do that if things weren't signed and sealed?

    Caice-d'oh!

Not believing this 100% until he's in the kit and leaning on something at our training ground. Rumours of chelsea not giving up yet. Worried Boehly is furiously going to throw stupid money at this now.

    Poll Ben Doak

He should probably play on the left, shouldnt he. But we're very well stocked there. Unless we switch to like a 4-2-3-1. But as a wide forward in a 4-3-3 he should probably be playing on the inverted side.

    Thiagone?

He'd be an incredibly useful option to bring off the bench week in week out. With a better midfield we can rely on, he could be a luxury player we could really use over a season.

    Trent’s new position

Well, to be fair Southgate is actually playing him in midfield - as in a starting position midfielder. Whereas Klopp has kept him as a right back starting position.

Rating Nunez's 1st Year at LFC

My worry with the idea of selling him is that you could easily see him going to a club like Villa or Brighton, suddenly clicking and being phenomenal. Hopefully the confidence click happens while he's with us. To answer the question: 6/10

Poll Do we still need Thiago?

What if we structured our midfield that we played with a genuine deep lying playmaker sitting between midfield and defense. It would be a role tailor made for Trent, but for next year Thiago could be a very able alternative.

    Trent’s new position

It's still so new and untried, which is why I think this "hybrid" system of City and ourselves is working. I do still think that over time smart managers will find a way to counter it. It also places too much importance in one player. Like Trent. What if he's suddenly injured for three months...

    Midfielders other than Bellingham

Not sure why it would be confusing for fascists to also be socialist. Socialism results in more power held centrally, and more governmental control. So kind of understandable that it would be more appealing to an authoritarian dictator. "Fascist" doesnt equal "free market capitalist" - usually...

We seem to have lost the ability to uncover gems / good value. Who was the last relatively unknown player we brought in at a good price who ended up being good for us?

Scottish Football Leagues, are they waiting to die?

Wading into a loaded topic here as a non-UK person, but its something I've always questioned - if the UK is a country, why isn't there a UK football team and rugby team? Why 4 different international teams? It's like the having Texas or California playing in international football rather than...

    Reimagining the team for 2024

Pep's been doing this for a couple of months with City, and it's worked great for them. The exact same on-the-ball system - essentially a 3-2-4-1 Strange that it took Pep doing something like this to finally make Klopp do something a bit more drastic with Trent.

    Defending can be beautiful

What Carragher and Hyypia did in the 2nd leg against Chelsea in 2005 was monumental.

    He drinks Sangria

Zenden and Pennant as our wingers in a European Cup Final was dire wasn't it. And playing Kuyt up front on his own, when that was hardly ever done throughout the season.

    He drinks Sangria

Always thought his real calling was as more of a number 9 poacher type - like a Robbie Fowler. He had an incredible eye for goal - but was one of the most wasteful players in possession I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt.

    Sell the Jota?

Agree - what I mean is, if we have ambition we shouldnt be needing to sell valuable squad players in order to raise funds.
  24. JohnnyRocket

    Sell the Jota?

Jota's the kind of player you need in a squad if you want to win the league. He's the type who pops up with a run of form in March/April and grabs a few goals to edge out some tight 2-1 wins. If we have any ambition he has to stay.

    Sack Race 22/23

Is it just me or is there a dearth of good managerial talent out there at the moment? If Klopp resigned tomorrow I'd be at a loss as to who to target.

    Sobriety and Ting…

Thanks. I haven't really spoken to anyone about this, which is sort of part of the problem, I guess. I suppose the right person just hasnt been around. When you change countries you do lose quality time with friends and loved ones and often find yourself very alone.
