Now that Wijnaldum is looking like new signing, I really don't see the need atm.

But he’s not exactly the same sort of player. It’s certainly clear that Klopp had identified Fekir as a vital signing, which has obvious ramifications on how he wanted the team to set up, and the sort of AM player he wanted.

Is he just waiting until he gets his ‘Coutinho Replacement’?

Don't see where he'd fit atm. Who from the starters do we relegate to the bench?
Wijnaldum? Milner? Keita?

We already have Fabinho and Henderson fighting for a place in midfield. I just don't see it happening.
Wijnaldum is turning into that Coutinho replacement.

He would replace Lallana.

I think we could do with a creative midfielder for the majority of league matches, I think a fekir or other class am wouldnt struggle for game time.

Itd make problems for the midfielders already struggling for game time but you know , that's their problem , not the teams'..

I don't agree with what seems to be the consensus about Fekir playing at #8 for Klopp (in place of Milner or Keita, for example). He is hard-working, in his way, but not really a box-to-box player by any means – he is a pure #10 whose best work happens in and around the opposition box. Somehow people assumed that the "Coutinho position" was the one that Klopp was trying to fill with Fekir, but even when Coutinho was here, Klopp would not often play the "fab 4" together, preferring more industry in midfield. I think Fekir was seen as competition/cover for Firmino and Salah and if that signing did go through, Sturridge would probably not be here.

Is he fuck. In his last three seasons Coutinho was scoring 12-14 goals for Liverpool, and was our main creative force. Wijnaldum averages 4.

That's not even considering the fact that Wijanldum has played a large number of games as a holding central midfielder, and can't play wide either.

Apart from that, yeah. A real Coutinho replacement.

You know jack shit about Wijnaldum apparently. He was a winger. Yeah, go back and look where he played primarily during his PSV and Feynoord days.

And this whole gimmick of taking things on face value in order to launch a tirade of a bunch of bullshit is fucking beneath you.
Jesus Christ, can you try something new for once?
Yeah, I said that "he's turning into Coutinho". Did I mean a carbon copy? Did I mean the cutting in from the left while shooting with his right Coutinho?
What I did mean however was that Wijnaldum might be turning into that AM we so desperately need.

Is he fuck? Spoken like a fucking kid.

He played - and considered himself - as a Number 10 at PSV, and played wide under duress at Newcastle.

But so what? He's played far deeper in his time at Liverpool, and has never looked anything like Coutinho, or even close to "turning into Coutinho" at the age of 27 and with 8 league goals in his Liverpool career so far.

So my point stands. Klopp desperately wanted Fekir as the attacking midfield, creative goalscoring option. I wonder if he'll buy one?

[article]“Gertjan Verbeek came in and I was still in the middle, it was my third season, but he wanted to play on the right side as a winger. I performed well there so they didn’t want to move me out, but in my mind, I always believed I was better in midfield.

“I was just happy to be playing, though, because I was young. When you’re still developing, getting games is so important. I learnt a lot playing on the wing and now I understand what the guys in those positions want from me.

“But when I got older, I knew I wanted to be a midfielder. I’ve had to have discussions with my agent, managers, directors, chief executives to explain that I am a midfielder, especially at Feyenoord.

In my last season, I played on the right wing and a little bit on the left, but after the winter break, Mario Been was the trainer at that time, and he put me in the No.10 position[/article]
