To be honest, when our front three are as good as they are, I very much like the idea of getting a player who can fill in in many positions, a bit like Ox and Lallana, but a considerable upgrade. I'd be up for getting him at the expense of Lallana, can he play Firmino's position at all though? We badly need cover there.

I doubt it, but it's not improbable

There's very few players who can play such a specific role as bobby though.
 
Interesting. His career hasn’t developed to the full potential, but maybe Klopp can help him find the next level.

It's nice to think that not so long ago we were looking at getting in the likes of Jermaine Pennant....

Looking at players like Draxler is a big step forward for the club.

We got him because of Salah. So as far as karma is concerned we're still net positive.

The club was prepared to pay a sizeable fee for one of Europe’s most highly rated players. They know third party investors have profited with Benfica but this is necessary to recruit such a promising and exciting youngster. No rules have been broken. This is the modern transfer system in operation, especially at the top end of the market.
For the curious, the feeling lingers that Liverpool have benefited because Chelsea have opted out of a deal that seemed to be going their way for three years.
Maybe the abundance of wide players already at Stamford Bridge, not least Willian and Mohamed Salah (both former Liverpool targets) is a logical explanation.
 
Reading this morning that Wilshere has not signed up for the Arsenal yet and will be on a free.

Two ways of looking at that: Although he is made of glass for most of his career he hasn't been so fragile recently and is still not an old player.

He is a good defensive midfielder who also has the ability to link play, when fit and on form he is a top quality player.

Although we would be gambling on his wages we also would be signing him without paying shit loads of cash to another team. I like Wilshere, I remember 6 or 7 years ago when Arsenal had Barca in the CL and he bossed the midfield away in the Camp Nou.

Buying him on a free? In effect the money you would be spending on his transfer instead goes on his wages.... I dunno... good defensive midfielder who can play a bit...

Would have signed him 5 years ago when there was potential. Now....hell no.
