He's been linked for ages and we're clearly keen, but if when we sign a new CM, where does he fit in? Can't see him coming in as a utility player.

Fuck that the guy has a worse injury record than Sturridge and he's not even that good. He's not better than anyone we currently have in the middle which is where he wants to play.

I don't want him anywhere near midfield , he can play wing back pretty well though

I think I'm in the minority here but I like him as a player and think he would be an astute signing for £25m. He provides the competition Wijnaldum desperately needs and would be a lot more competitive away from home. He can also cover the wide positions effectively. He was one of the few Arsenal players this year who played with fight throughout.

I'd be for it pricing the price was reasonable.

He used to a (ok) pacey winger and has converted now been converted to cm and still an ok player and not much more. The transfer fee will be higher

I don't rate him, goes missing far too often in games and his injury record can only get worse with the amount of running he would have to do for us.

Don't see how it's astute when he has scored less than 10 goals in his whole career. For the advanced position he's been played in that's awful. Then there's his injury record. Every season he's out for a very long period of time.

Isn't he only effective out wide and is injured almost as much as Studge?
Exactly on both counts. He's quite poor as a central midfielder and just about passable out wide (he's played so infrequently it's difficult to tell) although fresh pastures and a better coaching set-up may change that.

Does anyone see him as a potential replacement for Milner? Useful all across the pitch without really being good enough in his preferred position?

Cows love fresh pastures

Some genuinely good attacking players are just not capable of scoring regularly. Iniesta is a classic example (not that I'm comparing the Ox to the great Spaniard), Willian is another, Thomas Lemar is another one whose stats don't quite reflect his talent. If we have enough other players capable of putting the ball into the net, then to me it shouldn't be a deal-breaker. For the right price, I think he could be a good pick-up.

Decent player but much like Walcott, often injured and looks like he thinks he's better than he actually is. But he's also still only 23, can play a number of positions and we need depth. 20M sounds like a good deal, 30 not so much - especially if signing him means Keita (who I think we should go all out for) won't happen.

We don't need him if he only wants to play at CM - we have fitter / better / more suitable players. If he wants to play out wide, we can use the pre-season to assess the youngsters we have first to see if anyone is ready to step up and be the fourth option. Then we can decide if we can use him, instead of making a decision to buy him now.

He'll probably end up at Everton.
