Rating - will leave to Brendan, whom I think well need to give a few 2s and 3s today ...

* The arrogance of leaving behind the only fit midfielder we have who carry the ball forward with pace and create havoc with his movement and passing was a big mistake in hindsight. Who replaces what he can do from the middle? Who? Yah, this team misses what Ox gave us last year ...

* The midfield 3 has a lot of good things about them, but they gave us NO push, NO press, NO moving the ball quickly, NO attacking passes, NO quality movement in the final 3rd and one horrible mistake that led to their 2nd goal. Sorry, this cannot happen going forward. Klopp has GOT to start with an attacking midfield - even if that means our 'feared front 3' - who have yet to click (if they ever do again) - will become a 'feared front 2'.

* Allison on the 2nd goal was poor - De Gea saves that ... with his eyes closed.

* TAA - second straight poor game, this time in the attacking third. Maybe Klopp realized this when he dropped him against City ... Something is up with him too - and whatever it is - I hope he gets over it soon as he's a brilliant talent. That being said, it's amazing how last year's "TAA is so far ahead of Gomez" has become ...

* I said it a few times in the match thread but I'm starting to really worry about Salah. Is he injured? Is it the trauma of the world cup crap with the Egyptian FA? or is this the Salah some people thought we were signing? I don't have the answer but he is fucking up more and more moves in the final 1/3 ... and we're not good enough to win with our supposed best player being so wasteful.

* Bobby's downturn this year must be a delight to some. I have no idea what the fuck is happening here either but we need last year's Bobby back bad.

* We need to find a way to make Mane our 'primary' attacking threat. Yes, he missed a really good chance but I think he's the best we have right now in term of attitude, aggression, speed and ability to change games ...

* Lallana - Klopp cannot go with this guy anymore unless it's a FA Cup game or if we fuck up against Napoli and end up in the Europa League. He is too slow on the ball, and when we're struggling so much, he only adds to our lethargy.

* Studge - really surprised he didn't do more. Really odd as he's been good this season.

* Lastly, Fulham becomes a must win imo. We need to fucking hammer them - not for GD, fuck that. We need to hammer them because our team is lacking belief on the pitch, and it's showing. our attacking players are 'relying' on our defense to win games for us and it's worked so far, but we NEED fucking goals.

I wonder how long before Klopp gives up on his new, more 'measured' pressing game and reverts back to his usual, tried and trusted (and only) tactic of heavy metal, 'gengenpressing' 100 mph football?

'We maybe tried to change too much too soon, and asked too much of the boys, so we will go back a little bit to the older style'

A month, tops.

Still, that result was coming. We've been ordinary too often. As I've said before, we don't have the players to introduce a more, measured possession-based game, we can't play like Man City, we aren't good enough

Awful performance, and poor by Klopp starting Lallana and Studge.
We need to get a result in Paris now. Not impossible but will be tough.

Fabinho should be blamed for this loss.

It wasn't poor starting them, it was poor not getting the team playing a notch higher than we have been. Sturridge did well in other games, as will Lallana, it's not solely on them when players who have a place cemented have been poor more often than good this season. That goes for more than half the team, which is then on Klopp.

Partly yeah, if he had been any fucking good we wouldn't have to play Wijnaldum and Milner every game, and even fucking Lallana got a game tonight.

Over £100m spent on midfielders and we start with Lallana in midfield.

Fuck

Although in fairness to Lallana, he wasn't alone in being shit. TAA was useless again, Wijnaldum was a total shithouse Ghost, Mane and Salah were horrible, Allison was poor, and fucking Sturridge .....oh Christ. And that 50p-headed cunt Matip needs fucking shooting

What a dismal performance.

Its a shame we let one of the players that could have made a difference tonight, at home..

I saw that we should want one of PSG or Napoli to win to give us the best chance of going through.

I just can't remember what team it is we want to win.

Salah needs to get back to the right wing and start putting in a defensive shift there.

When he was scoring, it was fine to have an unbalanced team for him. But now, he's just a liability.

He's also considerably WEAKER on the ball.. remember the tenacity he showed to score against Everton, and Spurs.. I just don't see that Salah anymore. He looks half a yard slower, and about 2 stones lighter (brushed off the ball too easily). He seems like he's afraid of contact now.

We just want to avoid a Napoli win and it’ll still be in our own hands when the come to Anfield for the last game.

We will most likely have to beat them but it’s do-able.

Makes you wonder why we've gone for this new style. Preservation of legs? Limit injuries? Either way, it's not working, and we should just go back to, you know, snotting teams.

The irony is, to save legs in the latter half of the season, we actually looked fuck now.

Rafa used to do that thing where he rotated the team too much in the first half of the season, for preservation purposes, and we'd drop points and be off the pace or out of cups a few months down the line. Let's hope this doesn't go the same way.

Yeah, but we should have been able to beat them without Shaqiri, who hasn't even made his place in the first team XI secure, he's hardly started at all, so it's not like we left Salah at Anfield. Although we maybe should have

And I wasn't that bothered about the decision, I didn't like it, but I could understand it.

I agree with your other points but there was nothing arrogant about leaving him out -if you do mean Shaq? - in this situation. Arsenal did the same with their player in a similar context last year. It was a sensible decision, and it's the fault of the authorities and their ineffectual protection that it needed to be made.

I've been a fan of Lallana in the past, but what alarms me most about him now is he's come back with such a different attitude. Maybe it's frustration at his long lay-offs and lessening powers but he used to be such a team player, and leader, and he's come back as a strangely bitter loner. From the time in the under 23s game when he smacked a young kid because he tackled him a bit aggressively, he been acting in a very petulant and self-absorbed way, and his stupid tackle tonight was another sign of that. His attitude stinks. Get rid.

Fuck, 1-1 in Napoli

Doesn't matter a huge amount what the result is if Napoli don't win, we just need to beat them. If PSG lose, we need to beat them.

I think if we get 4 points from those games, we finish top in a lot of cases, 6 points and we definitely will. It's all in our hands regardless of the result, but granted we're more likely to beat Napoli at home than PSG away.

Maths is pretty simple.

Beat PSG next week and through (so long as Napoli beat RSB)

Lose to PSG, and if Napoli beat RSB, we'll need to beat Napoli at home by 2 clear goals to go through (on H2H with Napoli).

If we draw with PSG, a win of any kind against Napoli will see us through, right?
