Such an awful story, he's only recovered limited movement and still struggles to talk. Looks like the biggest struggle now facing the family is continuing to finance his treatment, they are doing a gofundme to help, thought I'd post it in here incase any generous reds with a bit of spare cash want to help. I also think it would be daft and insensitive of the club and prepares the players to help out a bit.

I'm on my phone, but mods, if you wanted to past the content of the article straight into my post, please do, if not I will tonight.

Unsure why, but this message board kept trying to add the go fund me link as a media file, maybe something you could look into @RedNinja

"Obviously we want the best for Sean, we may look into Germany. We've been told that Germany is a particularly good place in terms of rehabilitation. We have to look at every option at this point because Sean deserves to get the best care."

My mate had very similar injuries and symptoms after a fall in Germany, and we thought we were doing the best by him by bringing him home. How wrong we were, the care there was on a different level to what we got with the NHS. She's right. The Dublin Lions invested in a neuro feedback machine for people with brain injuries a few years back after one of their members fell from a balcony. I wonder if they have been or could be connected

I'm surprised that Roma haven't stepped in and made a gesture to cover costs related to this. £500k a drop in the ocean against the PR they'd get.

This is also a very good point, one of their cunts did this, what better way to show they want nothing to do with this behaviour than to make such a gesture.

They have a shit load of cunts, meaning if they end up paying for this, it opens a can of worms/bad pr every time those cunts hurt anyone else and they refuse to pay. Unfortunately.
I wish the LFC players could get together and chip in a few grand each. It’s insignificant money for them, but would make all of us proud.

You would think both clubs would give the guy a million quid. Job done.

I was thinking that. Even if it wasn't even a million, even if they just agreed to pay for his medical bills in the best facilities for the near future FFS.

To do nothing seems utterly crass.
You've got former players tweeting gofundme links too.

I mean....you've got contacts .... Help a bit more than that

I see your point, and have sympaty for the cause… But it willnot be right to do it that way.

The clubs will admit some kind of liability for a greater area of responsibility than they have if they pay these money. Wherever there is some good intention there will be others looking to gain or benefit from it. Hence there will be all kinds of expectations that the club should shell out for whatever happens to people on their way to the game.

The club is probably already paying a huge bill to the police for keeping the safety around the ground. It is anyway the police who is responsible for the crime in the society and this is clearly a criminal act. So the ones who should pay for this in the end is the ones that committed this crime. If we establish a system where the Clubs, in this case Roma and Liverpool bailing out the sinners by paying 1 million pound each we undermine the system. We might even see the police use these gestures as a reason to spend less on keeping the society safe in these type of matches as a good way to spend less over Budget if the Clubs accept a bigger liability. In this case it might be that the police underestimated the resources needed to protect the crowd for all we know.

I agree that there should be some way the Club, through different channels, should help picking up the Medical bill and even compensate the Family somehow. But doing it through a strait payout will in a bigger picture not be good.

I think youre overthinkinking it. The guy got brain damage going to a football game.
And whilst FSG didnt stove the poor cunts head in, they could still make a choice to support his future. Hold a fucking charity match between the two next summer and give him all the proceeds. Its NOTHING to the clubs that.

Yeah I agree on that. But that is different than just give him a million quid each.

No I am not overthinking it. By acting nobel you can easily set a precedence that will come back and bite you.

Reminds me of that great Yes Minister line about the danger of creating precedents: 'You mean that if we do the right thing this time, we might have to do the right thing again next time?'

Good one :D But ny point still stands. Er should help him definately but just send some cash is not something right.

If FSG did help him then in terms of the PR for their business it would be excellent of course... A rather sad and crass way of viewing it but true... Or of course, they could just do it out of kindness and say nothing which is a better version of kindness.

I hope he does get the help he needs, brains take a very long time to heal and adapt, but things can and do often improve over time if he gets the best treatment then things can and will get better for the fella.

Sadly I speak from experience.

It's pleasing to hear he is talking and moving albeit with difficulty, I remember reading somebody posting up unfortunate unsavory terms to describe the damage to him when he was still in a coma so it's good to know the damage wasn't total... I hope we and the club can get this lad some good treatment.

I think I'm genuinely misunderstanding here somehow...

The police are responsible for the crime?? I would have thought the over-riding blame for the crime resides with the violent thugs who hurt the fella.

Bailing out the sinners? I doubt very much that the thugs have got violent attack insurance... bailing out which "sinners"? Helping Sean is bailing out a sinner?

I don't understand your point Insignificance I truly don't.

Sorry if I express myself unclear. But my point is that the police is responsible for peoples safely. They charge the club money probably but in the end they should out enough resources out there to keep people safe. The ones that should pay for criminal acts like this is the ones who commit it.

Si my point was just as respons to the post saying "each club just pay a million and case solved". As I agree the stinking rich clubs has a moral and ethical obligation to help out, I don't think just playing some cash and case solved is the right answer. The club should embrace it's fans and help when shit hits the fan (No pun intended), but what happened here is a violent crime that might has come as an issue of not enough policemen in the street when violent behaviour was expected. I don't know why this incident was allowed to happen. When we went for the return leg we felt the hate and threats from the Roma ultra in and around the stadium. But there were policemen evrrywhere to help us out.

I am sure the club will stick up for Cox. But if both clubs try to solve such an issue with just pay money, I am afraid it might send wrong signals. Also towards the cocks doing this shite. They are the ones who ultimately should pay for this.

So I am not arguing that we should not help. But that i.e. Roma paying up for stupid fans at travel is risky.
