Sky are reporting that Manchester United have submitted a bid for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin!

That's not good!
There is increased confidence at Everton that a deal for Barcelona central defender Yerry Mina will get over the line before 5pm. As mentioned earlier, Everton have been trying to prise the Colombia international from Camp Nou for at least six weeks amid intense competition for his signature. A deal had not been agreed with the club or player as of yesterday but progress has been made in that time and Everton are hopeful that Mina will become the addition that manager Marco Silva has wanted from day one. Andre Gomes has been offered to Everton on loan during the negotiations with Barcelona. A deal for the former Valencia midfielder has not been ruled out by Everton but their priorities are Mina and finalising Bernard’s free transfer.

Translation: no one wants the poor Andre Gomes, not even Everton.

Unless Manchester United’s stance on Anthony Martial shifts or Lyon drop their asking price for Nabil Fekir − both highly unlikely scenarios − Chelsea will turn their attentions to shifting fringe players out on loan, with up to 15 expected to depart before the end of the month. Today’s exits are likely to include Kurt Zouma, who has interested Everton and, apparently, had been considered by United, while Milan are close to signing Tiemoue Bakayoko and Valencia have targeted Michy Batshuayi.

Chelsea got Kovacic on a season-long loan – but there is no buy option. If he has a great season at Chelsea, it's Real who will rip the benefit. Win-win for them.

Given that Matip is made out of biscuits and we have varying question marks over all our CBs bar VVD, I really wish we could get in on this. He'd be a great loan for us. I thought he was easily Columbia's player of the WC.

If we didn't have Gomez I'd agree for a perm deal only.. But a partnership of Gomez and Mina wouldn't fill me with much confidence.

I'd rather spend the extra £10m on Toby A. We shouldn't be all over a loan though.

Why would we partner Gomez with Mina? Why wouldn't you do a loan?

Say VVD got injured bro... Or needed a rest..

We shouldn't be loaning players.. *remembers Manquillo and Cissoko and shudders*

All loans are not created equally. Mina is clearly better than these players. I actually think a loan makes perfect sense. We have a season to look at Gomez with proper quality to provide serious competition at CB. We might even see if we can include an option to buy if Barca don't want him back next season (and he looks like the boss I think he is).

And say we get an injury to VVD/ Lovren etc. Would you prefer Mina and Gomez or Phillips and Gomez?

He's 32 yrs old isn't he ? An improvement on Smalling/Rojo ? Just don't see it so let them buy him, better him than Maguire for sure.

He’s a brilliant CB and easily better than Smalling and Rojo.

Obv he’s not got long left tho.

I love it when one of our youngsters breaks through. Obvs Klavan and Matip would be be ahead of a potential Gomez/Philips pairing though. Experience + Youth combo.

You mean when they break through and succeed. Otherwise, based on probability, you ought to have winced each time a youngster came through in the last decade or so.

Been busy all day.
United or Spurs panic bought yet?

Am I the only one who thought Mina looked very average? He was horrendous for Barca and could be another Diao/Diouf after a good WC.

I see Madrid have signed Spiderman

Why haven't we sold Ings yet? I mean seriously, do we need to play hard ball with other teams?
