Jürgen Klopp intends to field 22 players in Liverpool’s opening pre-season friendly against Chester FC on Saturday.

As expected, both Fabinho and Naby Keita will make their debuts for the Reds, with the former part of Klopp’s first-half team and the latter due to play the second 45 minutes at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

Joe Gomez is fit to play after recovering from an ankle injury, but Adam Lallana and Joel Matip miss out.

Klopp is planning to make 10 changes at the interval, with only Nat Phillips set to feature in both halves. The 21-year-old defender will begin the match before being withdrawn for Pedro Chirivella around the hour mark.

Alberto Moreno will captain Liverpool in the first half, and James Milner is to take the armband after half-time.

Planned first-half team: Karius, Clyne, Gomez, Phillips, Moreno, Fabinho, Jones, Woodburn, Wilson, Solanke, Origi.

Planned second-half team: Ward, Robertson, Klavan, Phillips (Chirivella), Camacho, Milner, Keita, Kent, Ojo, Ings, Sturridge.

Fabinho has hit the post. Origi and solanke have been shite. Moreno did a double nutmeg. Typical preseason game.

Good goal?

Good finish... really cool. Moreno put it back in the middle of the box after having his shot stopped, Wilson chipped it over the keeper when most would have tried to blast it through bodies.

Second goal was nice too... controlled ball from Jones off his thigh and then first time finish past the keeper. Jones had been our best player through 45.

Nice to see Wilson doing well. Hopefully he can play an important role from the bench this year. Looked superb at Hull last year.

Saw the second. Hope Wilson gets a sniff this season. He looks ready.

Fabinho apart from his one wayward cross field pass was very calm and intercepts loose balls very well
