I must say a really good job to get in the top 4 this year.
I really didnt fancy us at all given we didnt sign a DM or CB or a backup striker.
Luckily the front 3 have stayed largely fit this year and Virgil coming really helped.

I still think we need a DM and a partner for Virgil and we 100% need backup for the front three as the ones we have are laughably bad.

Three quality signings and genuinely I will fancy us to win this title next year.

Take a bow Glen C. Only poster on here to get the top 4 right this year.
Chelsea the ones costing most people.

I think as we are definitely in the champions league next season will help with recruiting quality players. Last season we still had the qualifying round. I’m sure that puts some players off. Also, as others have said being in it for the second time shows this isn’t a fluke.

I’d still want better than Karius if they’re available. I wouldn’t change for changing sake unless it was an improvement.

We need a centre back upgrading in Lovren and Matip. A backup left back is needed too.

Sessegnon could be a great signing for us. Play him left back or the left forward to rotate Robertson or Manè.

We need Keita and maybe a couple more midfielders. Can is off and will Milner perform again at this level? We’ve been unlucky with injuries to Can, Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain but if we are to look at competing on 4 fronts we could do with another 2.

Upfront I’m not too sure about. If Brewster stays then I imagine he’d get games when it is time to rest the big 3. It is also time for woodburn to get more game time. We will need better than Ings who seems to have no pace which is a shame as I like him.

Lets get real, we need FSG to stop being utter cunts.
I notice Pochettino has effectively told Levy back me or im off. How long will Klopp stick around on neg spend?

Im sure he will stay next season, but it would be nice to actually give the motherfucker the 200m war chest we hear about every cunting year.

Hes spent literally fuck all net.

Time to stop selling and start buying.

Dreamy has been great for years, he's not one game away.

I recollect thinking top 4 was possible and if we got it and didn't go out at the group stages of the CL I'd be happy.
So it's all good for me regardless of how the final turns out.

We were also the only team to go unbeaten at home in the league. (in the top 4 english leagues)

It's hard not to wonder how the season would have turned out if we had made the Coutinho and VVD transfers last summer.

Finishing Top 4 and reaching the CL final? We'd have all taken that. It's quite weird to look back when the season (for us anyway) hasn't finished, but there's been so many positives for us as a club.

Finally we had that "20 league goal striker" that everyone knows is vital for a team that wants to win the title, and Salah's ridiculous 32 league goals was crucial to make that final Top 4 spot ours. Without him, we wouldn't have had a chance. And at last Firmino started scoring goals, and made a great contribution of 15 league strikes, with Mane banging in 10. So if we keep those three and we also add in another top-quality striker, then the scoring situation will be sorted.

There were also positives defensively, with only three clubs - Spurs, United and City - conceding fewer goals, and much of that is down to Van Dijk. If we can add in another quality CB, a top goalkeeper and support in the fullback positions, that vital, title-winning mean defence can be worked on. And we also need to add quality to the midfield, especially with Can leaving. Another positive was the superb home league form, unbeaten, and if we can turn some of those ridiculous 12 draws into wins, we have a chance.

As for predictions, everyone knew City and United would be at the top, and most people picked Arab City to win the title. Not really interested in dissecting the Arab Centurions (vomit), any cunt can spend a billion pounds and win the title. I was fairly sure that Chelsea wouldn't go from Champions to nowhere, and that's been the biggest surprise, because at the start of the season it was predicted that the final fourth place position was the one we could possibly fight for, and even if that's what happened, their collapse has been a bit weird (even if they did actually win the title last season after finishing a dismal 10th).

Perhaps not quite as surprising was Spurs finishing third. Although Spurs under Pochettino have finished above Liverpool every season, it was thought in some quarters that this year the switch to Wembley may hurt them, and that three-season wonder Harry Kane would finally struggle. Still, at least Salah beat him to the golden boot, which is brilliant since Kane seems to really, REALLY like winning it. Unlucky mong-face.

As for United.....hmmm. Gigantic outlay, some huge signings and finished comfortably second, 6 points clear of us. Yeah, they could still win the FA cup under Shitcoat, ensuring yet another trophy, but there will still be disappointment about a lack of genuine challenge, player unrest and some turgid football. If we win the CL that will put their season into serious shade.

Overall. Well done. And it's not over yet.

Ha good find.

I'm pretty sure somewhere I spoke about Madrid in the final too.

We are gonna blitz them first half and hang in second

5-3

Great prediction from Glen and hopefully the same for Dreamy.
Finishing 4th and a CL final has been a fantastic season imho. Back to back CL qualifications is so important regarding the next step for our beloved club.

Worst thing is, we're two very dodgy penalties at Anfield from getting a much deserved 3rd place. One given (Spurs) and one not (Stoke).
Lets hope we have more luck with the officials next season.

Is now the time to talk about our dross?

Sturridge, Moreno, Mignolet, Ings?

I will sell all 4.

Moreno is in line to get a new contract I think, but hopefully he'll decide to leave.

OK, but that's not really that much "dross", certainly not when you look at just a few years ago, when we add the likes of Balotelli, Joe Allen, Lucas, Toure, Markovic (is that cunt still here??!), Sakho, Borini, Aspas, and the like, stinking out the place.

What we need is four more top quality additions to the squad, at least two for the "first XI" so that we can rest/ rotate players and not have a precipitous drop-off in quality

Who the hell would want to buy him? I think we'll price people out as well, because Klopp actually quite likes him.

Add Matic, Origi & Markovic to the list, use all the cash raised to buy a Virgil quality CB and we are off to a good start.

Anderlecht have appaz started negotiating with us re Markovic and he wants to stay in Belgium. We might actually get rid of him this summer.

We sold Kevin Stewart, Ibe & Smith for a combined 29m pounds in the last couple of years

Nah, not quite. 15m for Ibe, 3m for Smith and undisclosed for Stewart but probably no more than 5; in the mean time we turned down 11m or something for Markovic!

We need to make a decision about Harry Wilson, he's 21 now and we can't keep loaning him out.......we need to shit or get off the pot (i.e. sell him). With the world cup this summer the players involved will be given 2 weeks extra time off to recover; IMO Wilson should be given a chance to show what he can do in the first 3 friendly matches. Along with Milner, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Ings etc we should give the young lads Woodburn, Wilson and Solanke ample opportunity to show us what they've got before the big guns return towards the start of the season. I would love to see Wilson given a chance next season (but if not, let's sell him for £10m with loads of add-ons in case he becomes a star).

Yeah, last season it was 'top 4 with little/no cup commitments' this season its a full European campaign.

definite progress , ox for example , despite my disbelief back in august has supplemented the squad superbly. Given Can and lallanas injury woes

I guess it's hard to quantify improvements / drop in form before and after coutinhos departure given VVD came in and instantly improved our game off the ball. But never the less, we came fourth whilst losing a talismanic midfielder who made and scored a dozen plus a season.

Think the difference is due to the add-ons. Keeping aside the actual figures, my point being that we have become a lot better at selling our unwanted players. We also turned down approx 12m for Moreno from Napoli last year.

And when you say full you mean full!! Fuck I am happy With the CL campaign. All those goals, all those wonderful attacks and all those People laughing when we drew City and couldn't believe we beat them!! The 5-0 hammering in Porto when United thought they safeguarded a 0-0 progress against piss poor Sevilla.... That 5-0 lead against Rome in a semifinal... WOW

The league table after the away the defeat to Spurs in GW 9 is quite interesting when we talk about improvements made during the season.
Our defence has taken a lot of shite, and rightly so, but after GW 9 we had the best defensive record in the league. Thats quite impressive.

Still 13 points behind.

True

But 75 Points from 29 games is amazing achievment by City. And it is progress throughout the season for us. That is important. One can of course claim we have been hampered by injuries, and the extra fatigue from Our travels and achievements in Europe has been spread out on too few legs. But then again we had no additional domestic cup games late in season so maybe it evens out.
