It unfair to pick him out as everyone was shit but Mane's performance was dreadful.
It's weird because he worked really hard off the ball, and he essentially created our goal but I expect one of better players to be able to make a 5 yard pass on a consistent basis.

No. They clearly didn't. The Valencia penalty claim should have been given - ball was going straight to Firmino who had gotten ahead of Smalling and who knows from just 5m out .... VvD should have scored. Unlucky deflection into Rashford's path for their second. We had a few half chances but just didn't make them pay and sometimes you just need a touch of luck (read: referee) going your way, we didn't get it today.

Just because we didn't live up to our form however doesn't mean United deserve to win by default. Those stats pretty much prove that.
Taa will improve and has other aspects of his game. But the first goal was awful defending. He over the man and the ball by a mile and gave rashford too much time and space. Lovren was awful again.

Didn't watch the game but according to stats we were much better. 13 corners to 1, 67% possession, 12 shots to 4.....

It depends how you want to view the game.
I thought the first half was fairly even apart from our awful defending. Utd didn't park the bus, they had a solid game plan, executed it reasonably well and got their goals.
In the second half they shut up shop and we had loads of possession but failed to create much in the way of meaningful chances.
Unfortunately the ref was a bit of a homer but ultimately, this loss is on us.

We didn't trouble De gea at all. We didn't cut them apart. We didn't look like scoring in spite of blocked pot shot numbers on the stats.
Bemoaning penalty claims as a reason we lost when we fucked up massively in the first half, and then played in to their hands, is just daft.
Yes the ref should have given us more free kicks because they were filthy cunts. But it more than likely would have been for naught because we couldn't find a man from a set pieces anyway
They deserved to win because they saw our weaknesses, exploited them, and then defended a lead better than I could ever imagine us doing .

They got the luck with the deflection into Rashford's path. Without that it was 1-0 at HT and we were still in with a chance of winning. And there is no way that Valencia handball shouldn't have been given. They defended well but we missed our chances, that's not the same as not giving them up. They didn't deserve to win.

About Mane - everybody knows passing is the weakest part of his game. And maybe it was some genius Mourinho masteran to cover all other players and let Mane have as much of the ball as possible, but at least on initial viewing I didn’t think so - it really looked like it was OUR plan to put Mane in the middle, while Firmino played everywhere except the CF position. It’s fair to say that this plan has been a disaster.
Exactly all of this. They sat back, absorbed pressure, hit our weak points on the break, scored two and should have had a third, and we never really threatened.

Yep they deserved to win that game. Played a better defensive game than anyone I’ve watched this season. Dropped their wingers back to essentially have a back 6, protected by Matic, McTominay, and Fellaini. Crowded out all the meaningful spaces and won it that way. They were able to execute a specific game plan that I doubt our players would.
