This video makes me so happy. This guy is, on current form, one of the best players in the world. And he's ours.

Even though he didn't score against Brighton, he was impressive in other ways. The way he created Firmino's 2nd was absolutely sublime – only a player at the top of his confidence could pull something like this off: running at speed directly into the crowd of defenders, evading their challenges and making them believe he intends to beat them all by himself, then at the last moment releasing the ball perfectly onto an unmarked teammate. Messi pretty much patented that move. That combination of arrogance and vision is so, so hard to find and, like I said, only a player full of confidence can possibly pull it off.

He's been superb so far but so have many others and not produced it long term.

I highly doubt he'll be a one season wonder but I want to see him do it for a couple of years and against Europes best before I put up there with the very best.

Still been amazing mind

I think we've had individually better players in recent years; Suarez, Torres, Coutinho, Mane, etc. (Although not much better really), BUT...

I can't remember us buying someone who fits into our side and style of play better than this guy. It's completely remarkable. It's like he was born to play in Klopp's counter-attacking 4-3-3.

Fair play to the transfer committee - we give them enough bloody stick all summer long - cos this guy's as good a signing as we've ever made on the basis of his first half season.

He's not really though, is he? I'll quite happily keep revising my sense of his quality upwards though.

As Ryan says, an amazing signing that's perfect for the team.

Careful now ... there is real danger of opening the Pandora's box, which is an SCM debate on how to define "world class", to be closely followed on a heated discussion on how many angels will fit on the head of a pin.

He got lucky though - because he lost the ball for a second but because the defense was back tracking, he managed to regain control and set up Mane. It happened later - where his lack of close control stopped a quick attacking move.

That's why a player with great acceleration and quick change of direction has such an advantage (if he has enough aggression to use it) – you are always favored to get to the ball first even after a loose touch and sometimes a mistake can be even used to your advantage. When you're that fast, you can be deadly even when you're less than perfect.

I think the point about being a perfect fit for Klopp is an important one - one I hope means he shows loyalty when other clubs come calling. He is in a team that whilst wasn't necessarily set up for him, is playing to his strengths and he is in the form of his life. I'm loving it.

It's only now that I don't miss Suarez.

Until Salah arrived, even with Mane, we didn't have any player who just made watching us a joy.

Admittedly it's not just him, he's the cherry on the top of our attacking cake, but watching that pace is like playing on the ps4 but in real life. So many of his goals are taken straight from your fifa & pes memories it's untrue.

Plus Suarez is fucked now thanks to being overplayed when recovering from that knee injury, which helps a bit too.

"many others" have not done what he is doing even in the short term.

His scoring for a wide forward this season is almost unprecedented at Liverpool. Yes, he needs to continue in that vein, but his form over the past 2 years in Italy suggests this is how he rolls.

Mane got pretty close last season in that respect, he fitted us perfectly and looked a real threat. He's not quite got back to that again this season, because of fitness and a shift in position, but him and Salah have both been perfect fits.

Kudos to Klopp and the scouting/committee.

I just hope this team can stay together for the next few years. Was only a few years ago we had Borini Lambert and Balotelli lumbering around up top. Now, we have as quick, mobile, skilful an attack as their is in the League. It really is thrilling to watch.

I know we say it every year but just imagine what we're capable of we upgrade in the obvious positions.

Mane and Salah are two golden, coruscating stars, illuminating our football with deadly skills, amazing speed and beautiful goals.

I would say that Salah has had the most astonishing debut season of any Liverpool player for years.

I had my doubts about the signing TBH (not that I was alone in that) but I said I'd back him once he became a Liverpool player, and man, he's repaid that in spades.

Who doesn’t have doubts about almost any player we sign?

I was more convinced about Mane, but that’s because I’d seen him play more often.

With Salah, hardly any of us had seen as much of him, but the general consensus was ‘fast and has scored plenty for Roma, so yeah cool’

Perhaps there was some concerns about his slightly meek personality and his lack of success at chelsea, and I do recall someone saying they’d watched him play one game for Roma and he took a clattering and then hid (might be misremembering that), but overall it was positive I think

I think that was Ryan. I think there were really quite a few who were dubious about him. The nays outnumbered the ayes.

I thought it was vaguely positive, based on most people having not enough of a clue to form an opinion (I realise this has never been a pre-requisite on 6cm)

Naturally I just fixated on ‘pace’ which is more than enough for me, given I was positive about Lazar Markovic based entirely on his name

Yeah maybe it was Ryan. Whatever, I don’t recall it resulting in ‘DO NOT BUY’ just sharing what they had seen, which is fair enough like

For me what constitutes a proper world class player is back to back seasons of pure class.

When looking at Salah's first few months here in isolation he's been proper world class no doubt, but for me to end up in the 'world class' player bracket he'd have to show it over a longer spell of time, that way you know that a player can adjust through dry spells and overcome oppositions different approach etc.

For now I would not bet against Salah becoming a proper world class player though, as he's been a revelation really, and he has far exceeded my expectations for one. I even think he's been better than Mane so far this campaign and that's another player closing in on 'world class'.

Lucky us, for once..

Egyptian Berger

He's nothing like Berger really. Berger was direct and not particularly skillful in terms of taking people on, he could crack a shot from distance.

Salah is great on and off the ball and with all different types of goals.

Berger wasn't even that fast was he? I certainly wouldn't compare Salah to him either.
